I guess it would depend on what sort of fiction you prefer to read. I read a lot of murder mysteries. Patricia Cornwell, Nora Roberts writing as JD Robb, John Grisham, James Patterson, and others. ALL their books are great reading. I also read a lot of non-fiction. If you like non fiction, I have just finished reading First Son, George W. Bush and the Bush Family Dynasty. It is a revealing story of greed, money, and and corruption and wealth surrounding big oil. The actual climb to success and wealth of his family is an inspiring story of free enterprise and ambition, but the story of GW and the wealthy, silver spoon life of his youth is quite revealing of how politicians are nurtured, groomed and grown by the wealthy and elite families of America today. I am now in the process of reading The Audacity of Hope, by President Obama. Can't say much about it as I have only read a couple of chapters and have only had it for a couple of days. For those of you that LIKE the man, there is hope yet, that I may learn a certain level of respect for him after reading his writings. He IS a very intelligent young man, however misguided and overbearing I find him to be politically. Of all the fiction writers I mentioned, I like the writing style of James Patterson best. Other books I have recently read also include Heaven is For Real, by Todd Burpo and Lynn Vincent. It is a moving story about a boy named Colton that tells of going to heaven during a surgical procedure. I loved it. The boy describes meeting his great grandfather who is deceased, his miscarried sister whom he knew nothing about previously, and talks about his view of the holy spirit and it's power. It will warm your heart, hold your interest and bring you to tears at times. Very moving story. The Shack by William Paul Young is an excellent story about a man that meets God in person. It is a great book and you can't put it down until you finish it.

I read a lot of fantasy; either you love it or don't give a darn. I love Anne McCaffrey and her dragon books; all old and available anywhere 2nd hand and cheap (which is often how I choose my books I also love Carl Hiaason; very funny and twisted stuff! I tend more toward non-fiction a great deal of the time and ,again, older books and some really unknown authors. I love non fiction from the 1930's and '40's written by folks who traveled to exotic places that were only inhabited by the local natives. And I just happened upon a great book "We Took To The Woods" by Louise Dickinson Rich about living in the extreme backwoods in Maine in the 1920's and '30's. Fascinating and reflective! And she has several other books I am waiting to pick up from Amazon. I buy a lot of used books there for $4-7.
