I'm sitting here eating soup out of a Corningware dish right now. Heated in microwave, but so what? Corningware works beautifully in microwave. Yepper, I always use them in my microwave. Plus, if they do break they don't shatter. Love my Corningware. ;D If anyone ever sees either a 5 or 6 quart casserole please pick it up for me and I will reinverse you the cash. Even if it's from a garage sale. Just got a wonderful memory from years ago when my family went out for a drive and when we saw "garage sale" signs my Dad would say, "I wonder why those people are selling their garage." Funny, funny man who is dearly missed.

We never have had trouble with corning ware as long as we didn't take it from fridge to microwave. The only time we had one break was when it was cold and we nuked it on high for several minutes. We often warm things on our Corelle without any problems. We DID notice one thing about Corelle though. When it gets older, it WILL break easily if dropped and when it does, it goes into a million little shards that are like needles. We have a set that is over 15 years old and still going strong. I don't know if the dishwasher effects the fragility over a long period or not, but it is only in the last year or so we noticed that it no longer bounces when you drop it, and it breaks rather easily.

We had a flashback last weekend visiting #1 son & family. A few years ago my wife decided to replace our 1973 Spring Blossem Green Corelle set and gave it to him. When he served us dinner on Saturday, our old dishes are still going strong.

With the melding of two households when I met Kathy, we have both the old green bordered set and a set with the gold leafy border around the plates. I bet we have 20 dinner plates and dessert plates, and at least a dozen of the salad bowls. We could serve a Las Vegas Buffet with all the damn dishes we have in the cupboard and there is normally just the two of us for dinner.

Ah, but be careful with those gold or silver leafy borders cause my micro-wave doesn't like them. Sparks fly all over the place. Scared the sh*t out of me a few times when I forgot.

I like Texasware mixing bowls too. Denise, have to admit I never had any Texasware but my sister does and swears by them. One of these days when she comes up to join us for our usual Sunday get-togethers and brings something in one of her bowls I'll just simply forget to give it back to her. ;D

BZ, Corelle Ware is microwave safe. No metal in the border decorations.

One day my father dropped it & it just broke. We thought she was going to kill him. lol Fortunately for him my sister found a replacement on eBay. (God bless eBay). That's where I bought mine. I have to use to mix my meatball mixture. Nothing else will do!

We still have a white pyrex mixing bowl that came with Kathy's Sunbeam mixer. It is about 30 years old. The mixer went to my mom when we bought a Kitchen Aid. Kathy still uses it for mixing anything that she mixes by hand with a wooden spoon, and often puts it on the table as a serving dish filled with mac salad or something like that.

Chris, for months now I have checked all sites but they don't have 5-6 quart covered casseroles. Ralph has checked for me too. My was the French white. I would be willing to pay $40/$50. Checking the site you gave me I saw the Amber vision ware that my kids bought me and I hated it. Everything I cooked in it stuck. Big waste of money and I sold the whole set in a garage sale. That is the only thing Corning made that was useless.
