Teacher Fired For Anti-Semitic Comments At 'Occupy' Rally jobs.aol.com/articles/2011/10/19/teacher-fired-for-anti-semitic-comments-at-occupy-wall-street/?icid=maing-grid10|htmlws-main-nb|dl15|sec1_lnk3|105720The Occupy Wall Street camp at Zucotti Park harkens to the early kibbutzes of Israel. It's a self-sustaining scrappy community, with members eating, sleeping, and living collectively, braced against harsh climes, while dreaming up and playing at a better way to live. But in another sense, they aren't like kibbutzes at all. In the sense that few kibbutniks ever harbored unpleasant feelings towards Zionist Jews, given that they were them. This week, a Los Angeles school district fired a substitute teacher for anti-Semitic remarks she made at a recent Occupy Wall Street offshoot in Los Angeles. In an interview Oct. 12 with Reason.tv, Patricia McAllister (pictured above) said, "I think that the Zionist Jews who are running these big banks and our Federal Reserve, which is not run by the federal government, they need to be run out of this country."

I would say that the firing was warranted. If she makes such statements at a demonstration, then she must harbor the anti-semitic feelings in her heart, and could carry them into the classroom. I think if the statistics are compiled, we would find out that "Zionist Jews" are not the prevailing offenders on Wall Street.
She sounds like a disenchanted African American bigot, unhappy to see NY as a city with a Jewish mayor, and unhappy with Bernanke, a young man that helped roll the scrolls of the Tora at his synagogue when he was a kid running the Fed. Do I sense just a hint of prejudice here? Just a hint that she might have a picture of Louis Farrakhan on her wall in her bedroom. A prejudice that doesn't belong in the classroom teaching our children? There is no room for an anti semite in our schools. It's a character defect that was caught before it could poison any more young minds.
Oh well, being unemployed will give her more time for demonstrating and one more thing to bitch about.

My Momma was an Art Teacher, there are no black or white people! Only in Cartoons!
She sounds like a skinhead to me, "they need to be run out of this country", where is her head at? I guess equality has taken another bold leap, straight into the shitcan!

The "Zionist" remark made me think of Louis Farrakhan. I remember back in the 70's when he used to speak with a portable PA boombox on street corners in Manhattan, and would spew that garbage about killing the Zionist enemy and the "white devils" in the world. That movement is as dangerous as the KKK and simply represents the black side of racial hatred.
Farrakhan swears he is not anti semitic, but I have personally heard his words and his call to rise up against "white devils" yelled loud and clear on the streets of NYC.
Farrakhan, known for his frequent association and comparison of whites with devils, said in an ABC interview with Martin Bashir on March 9, 2007 that he would refrain from using such rhetoric. Despite this, Farrakhan used this association to great extent later that month in Mosque Maryam in Chicago, including in one fierce declaration where he stated: "Do you know some of these satanic Jews have taken over BET? They got BET. They got our hair product people. They got Motown. Everything that we built, THEY got it. But the mind of Satan now is running the record industry. Running the movie industry. Running television."[47] (quoted from his wikipedia page)
I am sure that this woman probably holds many of those same views. She damn sure doesn't belong in our schools if there is even a remote chance that she will infect children with those hateful attributes.

My feelings are mixed on this. On one hand, she made a remark outside of her job as a teacher. At what point do we separate someone from their job?
But then, this type of remark does reek of an issue she certainly could carry over into the classroom. Whether or not she teaches any Jewish students is moot. The fact that she may harbor ill sentiment toward them along with her capacity to teach young minds sets a dangerous stage. I don't think this is someone I would want teaching my kids. But then again, how much do we really ever know about who is teaching our kids anyway?

Back in the days when those my age were in school, there was concern about teachers that had communist and marxist leanings, along with concerns about teachers that may have had racial issues.
Vetting of teachers is a difficult task. Teachers are human and have all the same faults and shortcomings as anyone else. The critical thing is to identify any harmful attributes before they are allowed to expose our children to them in a classroom environment. Unfortunately such things as a proclivity toward inappropriate sexual behavior sometimes is well hidden until a child is victimized.
We have to be ever vigilant and on the lookout for such things, and it is better to err on the side of the well being of the children. It may seem like one is guilty until proven innocent, but when children's welfare is involved, I would rather see a teacher suspended until any charges are proven to be unfounded.

What we say off duty does matter according to what our on duty duties are. During my entire 21 years of service in the Army, every word I uttered was grounds for UCMJ, because it could bring down the Morale, Esprit De Corp's, Fighting Readiness and Teamwork we so depend on to win. Criticizing The POTUS or my Command could provoke a Courts Martial in a minute. If my garbage dude or farmer neighbor said this same thing, I might not react nearly as much as when I hear this coming from a Teacher.
Being Anti-Semitic is prejudicial, teachers cannot be allowed to teach our children if they are Bigots, period; no excuses! If she wanted to point fingers, she should have done some research and named names not espouse vial Archie Bunker like verbal feces!
She should know better than this crap, if didnt see her picture; I would have guessed some white trash Trailer Queen that was spewing it not a daughter of decedents of Slavery!
I guess that goes to show that we really have become equal in the 21st Century; Equal Opportunity Offenders, regardless of Race, Creed, Religion or Gender!
She's a beauty alright, looks like she forgot what her ancestors had to endure for her to become a teacher in a country that accepted Slavery only 150 years ago.
Martin Luther King would be so proud, maybe not...
