Get out of New York City and New York State. Looks like a Cat 1 for NYC.

Maybe Bloomberg will put on his "rubber ducky" raincoat, and take his camera to the top of the Empire State Building to document the storm, while Cuomo holds onto his belt to keep him from blowing away.

I just heard on the radio a short time ago that Bloomberg has ordered the evacuation of about 300,000 people. Probably those in Brooklyn and Queens that are in low lying areas that could flood with a storm surge.

Who knows how it will play out but from what I have seen so far Bloomberg, Christie & Cuomo all seem to have their act together.

Much better prepared than Ray Nagin in New Orleans was. NYC has so many tunnels of several different varieties, that flooding will be devastating if the surge pushes a lot of water ashore or the rain is as torrential as they anticipate it may be. Subways, Lincoln and Holland tunnels, electrical vaults and communication cable vaults, all below street level will be flooded out. I would also anticipate that if the winds reach hurricane force, window glass will be blowing out of the high rise buildings also. I would also have to wonder where they will safely moor all of the various types of boats and water taxis that ply the waters of the harbor and rivers on a daily basis.
