Clinton uses diplomatic muscle in Turkey-Armenia row

LONDON (Reuters) - U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had just left a hotel for a historic signing ceremony between Turkish and Armenian leaders on Saturday when her caravan stopped and she headed back.
A decades-old conflict, stemming from the World War One mass killing of Armenians by Ottoman forces, needed a few more hours to simmer, it seemed, before resolution could begin.
Clinton, President Barack Obama's most prominent foreign policy adviser, played a key role in getting the long-term enemies to sign, hours late, protocols to establish diplomatic ties and open borders, U.S. officials said.
She drove back to the hotel where Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian was ensconced, spoke to him and Turkish counterpart Ahmet Davutoglu by phone, and persuaded both sides to meet at the university where the signing was to take place, bringing the Armenian along in her sedan.

Some of the best feminist minds in the business of politics believe Hillary is down for the count, her hopes for the Presidency dashed for her foreseeable lifetime. So, I'm happy to say I disagree with all of them. This woman will be our next president, elected in either '12 or possibly in '16, if she can still jump over her desk at age 70. After all, she's not as old as the lightbulb, only as old as the transistor (invented 1947.)
Her chances are far greater in '12, of course, because America won't be ready for another Republican President by then, unless he is startlingly electable. If Obama fails miserably (and don't count him out yet), Hillary will grab the Democrat standard and keep the party in office. She will probably do a good job, if you don't mind a continuing slide toward socialism.
This isn't about politics in the normal sense, and who I think might do a better job. It's about voter hebephrenia
I'll be taking bets beginning the end of 2010. $20 minimum.
