I heard all this squaking outside my window. There was this giant black crow flying into a bunch of little crows and sap he attacked one of them in mid air and started to eat the little birds eyes and in a manner of a few minutes it devoured the whole thing. That was one hungry bird. Nothing's left except for a few feathers.

Hmm. I have been force to "eat crow" a few times over the years. I left the feathers too! They are hard to swallow, and tickle your throat.

I thought crows were scavengers, not hunters.

You are correct Swimmy. I have seen crows attack and harass other smaller birds, but never have seen one kill or eat one. In fact I have seen just the opposite on many occasions, when smaller birds actually were harassing and attacking crows. Crows are the only animal that I have ever seen that could eat a roadkill skunk, LOL. They obviously have a diminished or warped sense of smell.

That is exactly what happened. The little crows were harassing this big crow. I guess he(she) had enough and resorted to its natural instinct, KIL or be KILLED. They must have learned that from people.
