Man Says Snake Head Found in Broccoli
CLIFTON PARK, New York (May 7) - A diner at a restaurant in upstate New York says he got a little something extra with his broccoli — a severed snake head. Jack Pendleton told The Times Union of Albany that he was at the T.G.I. Friday's restaurant in the town of Clifton Park on Sunday when he spotted something gray mixed in with his vegetables. He realized it was a snake head the size of his thumb, with part of the spine still attached.
"I start to turn it over. I see this gray-green patch," he told The Times Union. "I could see these black, rotted eye sockets on the top," he added. He said the head had part of spine attached. "I stopped eating," he said in The Times Union. "I told my girlfriend, 'I think this is a head.'" Pendleton says he snapped a photo with his cell phone camera and called the waiter over. He says he has no plans to sue. A spokeswoman for the Carrollton, Texas, chain says it's investigating. It wasn't immediately known what kind of snake it was. Pendleton and his girlfriend weren't charged for their meals.
I remember back in 1971 a rat was somehow fired in an order for a person at Kentucky Fried Chicken resturant in Missouri

Working as a waitress in my younger days, oh, the stories I could tell and about some pretty decent restaurants in this area. If people really knew what takes place in the kitchens they probably would never eat out again. The only advice I can give is never, never make the waitress or the cook angry. ;D

Yep, I found a used band-aide worth about $70 in the marinated mushrooms on Beck's Grove Seafood Buffet years ago. The prep cook must have had a cut finger, and mixed the mushrooms without gloves, with the olive oil and vinegar causing the band-aide to come off. the owner was so embarrassed that he comped our entire check for four dinners, about $70 or so. Actually the marinated band-aide was pretty tasty, but a little tough and chewey.

My worst experience was dinner at Spagehtti Joe's (on Pelleterri and Jay). It wasn't my dinner but what I saw that grossed me out so bad I could not finish my dinner and then could not bring myself to eat there for a very very long long time since.

Chris, don't ya know? Spaghetti Joe's can do no wrong in some people's eyes. It is a very dirty place but people just refuse to notice that.

I have heard people say that if you think the upstairs kitchen was dirty, you should see the downstairs kitchen where they baked the lamb and sausage and stuff. The little kitchen upstairs was a mess, the one in the cellar was a disaster according to beer delivery folks. Heck, I never knew that they even HAD a second kitchen, but I guess they did. I loved the food there, and would eat there tomorrow if I could.
When I had the commercial carpet cleaning business, the dirtiest kitchens I ever saw were the Mohawk Station in Mohawk, and a restaurant in Rome that I can't remember the name of. It was on the old River Road, just before you got to the base.

I remember going there as kids. It was the only restaurant my parents took us to and we didn't go all that often. The price was right, I guess. We called it Scabby Joes.

I love their roasted peppers and a few of their macaroni dishes, but their sauce sucks. Most people I know who go there along with me always have their mushroom stew put on the macaroni instead.

I always liked it. I never had a complaint with the food. Use to love the dandelion salad and lamb on Saturdays. Or soup on Mondays. Where else could you go and get a meal for two and pay about $5 ?
I heard they reopened not long ago after being closed for a while. Are they still open today. Probably nothing like it use to be.

I love dandelions but I cook mine in water first then drain them real well and then crisp them up a little in olive oil and garlic. And I make a mean Mushroon Stew. I love the Mushroom Stew that is sold at the Historic St. John's summer festival.

I never cared for their sauce either. I did like the mushroom stew, but I ate it from a bowl with bread. I also used to make a meal of the baked sausages and plates of mixed hot and sweet peppers. I would make several sandwiches from the two ala carte items and the wonderful bread.
Anchor Inn used to have my favorite mushroom stew. Kathy makes me mushroom stew, and she puts lots of mushrooms in it, along with pork steak cut up in cubes, bell peppers, onions and seasonings. I like hers over rice, or pasta, usually corkscrews or penne, or straight from a bowl, with crackers or bread on the side.

Chris, they're still open but only certain days and nothing has changed. Still have to bring your own butter as usual.
