That's awsome, concerned! Did you ever get a chance to see the reactor core?

Cornell has a small research reactor. The tiny core is immersed in water and one can observe the blue glow of Cerenkov radiation while the reaction is running.

RIT will be having their Imagine Rit Creativity and Imagination Festival tomorrow for anyone interested. Students will be showing some very interesting projects they are involved in. We have a nuclear power plant too close by at Ginna just east of Rochester on Lake Ontario www.rit.edu/imagine/videos.php?file=imagine_press_conf09

The work that was being studied had to do with plutonium and what would be the smallest amount of radiation that could travel on a photon burst of energy. I helped in the cellular and molecular biology research lab( which was absolutely amazing, sometimes when I think back and remember was I saw all I can do is wonder about how God can be even more powerful) neut's were exposed to the photon bursts at various wavelengts and then there lungs were biopsyed, tissue was prepared and then the computers took over during the procedure that was used for viewing under electron microscope study. I actually was able to mount my tissue in the drying tube and then help out with the electron microscope. It was amazing but also very dangerious. The facility was shut down, at least that reactor and the entire area because of contaminination. I was luckey I was picked in 1972 to represent Maryville University, my alma mater. www.maryville.eduIf ya got kids it is affordable and dynamic. That's the truth.

Chris: I started to read about the festival. Sounds fantastic. Our kids today need so much science and math. Not to rule out the other subjects. I have friends whose children were educated in Hong Kong. A few graduated from Stanford two years ago. One is at RIT. Three at are Rutger's.
