Welcome to Clipper's Busy Corner, Fiona. Let me introduce you as the person who had the Obliston Thread on the CNYForum, which I hope we can continue here with your excellent knowledge of its history.
If you care to, as many here have done, post a self-introduction in the Introduction section of the forum. That section, as well as Steam Room and Announcements, is private and restricted to members only.
Again, glad to have you aboard, Witchy.
I hope Nimah and John F also find us all here.

Welcome Fiona. I loved your Olbiston history piece, and look forward to your putting some of it up on here. I hope we get quite a few of the CNY forum members. I enjoyed that forum very much. It had gotten so it was not real active, but it was interesting and the posts were of substance, for the most part. We do a lot of fooling around on this forum, but we also discuss very serious and important issues as well.
I went there today, and found that all it allowed one to do was copy some of the recipes. That is too bad. Most of that is lost now. Hopefully we can all gather again here. I was TnBassbuster on the CNY forum. Kim is here, Dave is one of my most respected friends and an active contributor. We also have Dick Laurey, Jon Haynes and others from the After BeBopaloola thread. That musical history has gone well over 100 pages since Dave moved some of it here, and the others started contributing.
You will find some cussing, but not much, some arguing, but always in good spirit and kept civil. It is loosely moderated by myself, Kim, and Ralph Quinn, but it moderates itself. I have never seen an online forum that was as friendly and that had so many people that simply respected others and didn't cause problems.
So welcome to the family, or the nuthouse, whichever you decide best fits the scene here, haha.If you are active, you will find many friends here, and will love the people. Jump in whenever you feel comfortable. Thanks for joining us here at "The Corner".

Fiona, please hold on for just one minute while I roll my pant leg up after reading Clipper's post. Guess I should feel grateful that he kept it down to just four paragraphs instead of writing his usual book. Anyways, want to welcome you to Clipper's book, oops, I mean forum. It's a great place, with great people and I can honestly state we have become a family. For better and for worse we come together, share our thoughts, vent our feelings and still talk to each other the next day. No better place to be. ;D Looking forward to your input on issues. Welcome aboard. ps: THERE Clipper! You happy now? I'm back to myself. How many times do I have to warn you to be careful what you wish for.

THANK YOU, DAVE. I FIND THIS FORUM SOMEWHAT CONFUSING. HOW DO I BEGIN MY OLBISTON HISTORICAL THREAD? JUST THROW THE SUBJECT OUT THERE AND PEOPLE ASK QUESTIONS? I WENT TO THE HELP SECTION, BUT IT JUST KEPT LOOPING BACK ON ME. THANKS TO ALL FOR YOUR GREAT COMMENTS. FIONA

Well, first you'll choose a board to put the thread into. Let's see.... it's not Utica and Local Area News, nor is it really Local Arts or Entertainment. So, I suppose "General" might be the place. Or maybe even Utica Entertainment History, although that's not quite right. Tell you what. I'll start the thread to make it easier for you to find it. I'll call it "Obliston/Genesee Flats History." And we can change that title if you want. So for now, at least, go and look under General (where you are now, reading this post) and you'll find the new thread.

Fiona, when you click on one of the topic areas, such a General, or Utica and local area news, it will bring up a screen with all the threads listed for that particular area. If you look to the right hand side of the screen, you will see a place that says "new thread". Just click on that, and you will be off to the races.
I am around most of the day, as I am retired. If you have a problem, just drop me a PM or an email, and will get back to you. Just click on my screen name and it will take you to my profile. To PM someone, all you have to do is click on the PM option at the top of the profile page, and you are able to send a PM. My email addy is also listed on my profile.
Glad to have ya with us Fiona. It is not a difficult page to navigate when you get used to it. Either Dave or myself, or most anyone here will answer any questions you may have. Kim and Ralph are the other two moderators and staff people here. They are very helpful, and more computer savvy than I, if you have a technical problem.
Have a great day Fiona, and don't be intimidated by the format. It is simple to use when you learn what is what.
