Hi everyone,
Not sure how many of you check my blog, so I thought I'd post this over here. Stephen has been in the hospital since Friday night, and I've been right here with him. He had an emergency surgery to drain fluid from his ear, and they're treating him for meningitis. Not the common kind, either, but the bacterial kind that nobody gets. His implant is messed up and he can't hear a thing, which is really upsetting him. When he's not crying that he wants to go home or because he can't hear or because he's being a pincushion, he sleeps. I don't know how long we'll be there. I'm updating my blog frequently, so please feel free to check there for status updates.
On the the plus, the hospital has wifi. Not much of a bright side, but it's something.

Kim, I'm so sorry to hear that. Poor little kid, I know it's painful. When my daughter was that age she had surgery for it. Hope he gets better real soon.

Thanks. He does seem to be feeling better today, and had some energy for a few hours. Then he crashed. He still can't hear. We need him to hear, and I'm very concerned about it. I hate that he can't hear. :-(
He might be going home tomorrow, with an IV right in him, and the IV might have to stay in him for 6 weeks. But then, we might NOT be going home tomorrow. I don't know what's going on.
I so want him to hear.

Kim, You know I will be praying for my little buddy. I am sorry that he has to go through all this painful and scary stuff. I am thinking positive that he will be able to hear once the ear is drained and healed from the infection.
I may call you when I am able, just to check on Stephen and you two also. I won't have access to the computer while in the hospital, but I will have my cell phone after I am out of the anesthetic and back in my room.
You guys have been in my thoughts all day today. Kathy and I had to run around most of the day for her to go to the doctor, and then out to lunch and some shopping before I go in the hospital. I have been trying to anticipate anything that needed to be done before my lifting is any more limited than it is by the pain right now. I am so damn sore now, it doesn't make any difference if I lift or not, haha.
I don't know what is on my oldest son's agenda or if I will be able to contact him from the hospital. He is in school now, taking some more courses. If I can't get him, maybe you can put a short post up when i am out of surgery and okay.
I will be thinking about you guys when I go to sleep and again when I awaken. Give my little buddy a hug kiddo. Keep you chin up. It is going to be okay and he WILL hear again. Have faith.

Gee Kim, I'm so sorry I missed this. I hope he comes around real quick, that stuff is nothing to laugh at, and we all certainly want him get his hearing back. I am sure that once the infection totally subsides that it will come around in a bit, just have to wait for all the internal swelling to co down and things to get back to normal. Keep us posted here. He'll be in our thoughts and prayers.
