Clipper, I know a woman who had back surgery a few years ago due to an auto accident. She has a couple of steel plates in her back. She is now a heavy equipment operator, believe it or not.

Wow, that is encouraging. It kinda offsets the apprehension caused by my better half's unsuccessful surgery last fall that has left her with a nerve problem in her leg, that requires Lyrica to kill the pain. Thanks for the encouragement. I am really nervous. Hell, I don't even like going to the dentist, much less having someone mess around near my spinal cord, LOL. Would you believe that I have to go by the doctors office today, so he can mark the incision site with a sharpie. It is a Tennessee law, so that he doesn't operate on the wrong side or the wrong parts. Damn. I can see it all now. Gee we are sorry, but we thought you were the patient that was here for the frontal lobotomy. LOL

Permanent Sharpies aren't likely to come off anytime soon. Tell the Doc to sign his name while he's at it. If he screws up, you can prove he did it!
Good luck, Clipper. I'll be praying for you. Even though you don't need it; you're in Good Hands.

Clipper, even though that frontal lobotomy might be an great improvement, can't see your Doc making that bad of a mistake. Hope you told him if he dares to screw up on you that "you have people" and he'll have to deal with all from Clipper's Corner if he messes up. Me the first in Clipper's Corner. lol!!!!! Just love that! After me, I don't think there will be much left for the rest. Sorry I'll be away to keep ya company during this time but I will try to get to a computer, if available, to check up on you. Just remember you will be in my thoughts and prayers every day. You will be just fine. ps: Geez, you even have to haunt me when I'm in Jamaica. ;D

Gee, no big line where the incision is going to be. Just two dots. (he must do a "connect the dots" after he gets you into surgery) They also gave me a arm band (bracelet) that describes the location and the type of surgery. (L-2/L3level, Left side of spine). Oh well.
He said I will have almost immediate relief to a certain extent, but that the swelling and inflammation may leave slight residual pain in the leg for a few days, and I will have the usual pain associated with the incision site and pain in my back until it heals.
Gotta tell ya, the pain in my leg and hip are the worst pain I ever had in my life, including when I fell and broke my back. It is getting old, not sleeping well, and not being able to hardly walk.
Thanks for all the encouragement all. Appreciate the prayers. It is not a major surgical event. I am just a big chicken, haha. I just can't wait to have it over with and to get on the road to recovery. I am too damn active to be lying around the house not doing anything.
Well, I hijacked this thread, LOL. 'Somebody take it back to the subject of the thread.
