I was watching a little of that stupidity last night which I always fail to get. All this money and glamour is given to a group of people whose life is dedicated to make-believe and trying to convence the world thats it's true.

Hey, that's Showbiz!
We used to understand that. Today, these folks are taken way too seriously.

This is the first time in maybe 20 years that I actually saw a movie that won an Oscar. I went to see Slumdog Millionaire on Saturday. I though it was a good movie -- it entertained me. I don't know how to judge movies any other way.

We've been watching a lot of movies on cable TV at night while we're on vacation. We don't get the extra movie channels at home. Although we won't be ordering movie channels when we return north, I have to say we've enjoyed many of them. Can't believe how the amount of blood and violence has dramatically increased in the past few years. Some really gruesome stuff! But I also noticed less of the objectionable aspects that made me all but give up movies a while back: unintelligible dialog and audio, and plots that don't make much sense or have loose ends. Someone must be concentrating on continuity again. I seldom watch comedies. The incessant sexual humor gets to me. Hey, I like t*ts and a*s as much as the next guy, but many of the comedies today remind me of sitting in the bar of a Catskills resort and listening to an earthy comedian foul-mouth the audience. You know who I mean ... Henny Youngman, Allan Sherman, Alan King, Jerry Lester ... they were much cleaned up for television.

I'm a big fan of comedies! After a long week of being serious I need a good laugh. I love all comedies. My favorites are Ben Stiller, and Will Farrell. Right now I'm hooked on a show called Big Love. I have the first season at home so I'm watching that and renting the 2nd and 3rd. It is hysterical. I miss having HBO. I miss my dish! Right now to cut costs we have the 10 channels from Timewarner, and have Netflix.

Lucy, I also enjoy the show "Big Love." ;D It is a comedy, but it is also a way of life for many. Can't even imagine living that life style. Be too damn confusing for me. I don't have HBO any more either but my girlfriend tapes all the shows for me. Don't want to miss any. I'm not a biggie when it comes to comedies but "Big Love" definitely has me hooked.
