Looks like it is going to stay South of you. Sunny and hot here today. I went out at 6:30 to dig a couple of post holes. It turns out that the posts for our fence were just set in dirt. I dug post holes to redo the two gate posts and one more that was wiggly. They won't wiggle any more. I dug the holes big and used an entire bag of concrete mix in each hole. I want to make sure that the posts support the heavy gate without sagging over time.
It is 84 degrees and humid. I came in an hour ago and sucked down a gator aid. Soaking up the AC until after the sun goes down.

It's partly sunny here now 80* & a slight breeze. If I can get up some ambition I'll head over to the produce stand & pick up some sweet corn to go with burgers on the grill. Tomatoes are just starting to ripen, basil is ready & long hots will be picked when they turn red. I also planted a bananna pepper plant in a pot & those sucker's are hotter then I thought they would be. Zucchin done for the season.

We had fresh sweet corn the night before last for supper. Kathy didn't feel like cooking so we ate 6 ears of corn apiece and a tossed green salad. I guess we were feeling a bit vegetarian that night.

Well, it let loose here a little while ago, high winds, rained hard enough couldn't see accross the road. Storm hit about 5 minutes after I remembered the windows were down in my truck. Whew! We have internet obviously but HULU is acting up so we can't watch the teeeveee. Oh well.

I have been reading about areas to the North of Utica that caught hell and had a lot of trees down. Towns of Russia and Ohio, Rt 365 and Rt 8 area.
As usual the severe storms went across to our South between here and Knoxville and moved East into the Carolinas. We had a minor thunderstorm that lasted for about thirty minutes or so. There was very little wind, and just rained hard for the duration of the half hour or so.
The storm DID cool it down a bit. It was 87 this afternoon and is 67 now at 10:30. It is suppose to rain again during the night and most of the morning tomorrow. It will probably not clear until noon tomorrow. I got the 8 foot section of fence removed and the posts re-set, cemented in and plumbed. I guess there will be change of plans. I was going to tack 2 10 foot 2x4s across the opening as top and bottom frame members for the gate, and fabricate the rest of the framework in place with a double set of 2 upright frame members in the center of the opening. After fabricating the components I planned on cutting the extra foot off each end, installing the hinges, cutting the framework in half at the center between the two upright frame members. Now I will have to fabricate two separate 4 foot wide, 6 foot high gates in the shop on horses and get someone to help me carry them to the opening and help hold them up while I install the hinges and hardware.
Praying for good weather and help so I can complete the project tomorrow.
PS: the tomatoes are finally starting to ripen on the vine in fairly large quantities. I picked 18 today and they are sweet, ripe, and juicy.

Nice today, temps in the 70's. Same for tomorrow which is fine with me as I have to finish pressure washing the house. I did about half of it 3 weeks ago but with all the rain & humidity I let it go. After that I want to reseal the driveway. I did it 2 years ago but you'd never know it. The stuff don't last despite what they claim. But what else is new?
