I waited to long and now I cannot wait till my eye Doctor removes them. I have the left eye done on Sept. 28th and then in two weeks the right eye. Dr. Harris from Slocum Dickson is fantastic and does his surgery on Thursdays at Griffiths Air Force Base in Rome and I am now waiting for the map and directions he had mailed to me. I have Humana Medicare Coverage and transportation is available with an Uber. I used it to get to my appointment with him on Tuesday. All went well with that but after my eye exam it was very difficult to see what with the eye dilations drops still doing it think. Imagine getting a text says watch for a white Volkswagen license plant HUF*****. I go out back and guess what four while Volkswagens show up and I had all I could do to read the licence plate numbers finally I found the guy and told him next time could you yell out I am over here. He laughed .
Only worry is that he found early Macular Degeneration!!!! In left eye.... So I bet on more appointments with him after this one.

It is amazing how clear your vision is after having the cataracts removed. When they do the surgery the dilation won't leave you as blinded by light because they will give you a pair of Stevie wonder sunglasses with side shields. Only drawback is the necessity to put drops in your eyes at different times during the day for awhile.

Best of luck, PB. Isn't there another way to get to Rome & home other then Uber? It is a free ride through my insurance. I get 48 one way rides a year.

Wow, 48 rides for free a year? Jump in an Uber and come on down to Tennessee. I will take ya out to dinner and put you up in the motorhome for a few days. LOL Heck we even have two Walmarts and neither of them is crappy like the N. Utica store. I always tuck my handgun in my waist band holster when I shop at Walmart anyway so you would be well protected.

You may need to arrange for a doctor in TN to find a treatment which cannot be provided closer to home.

It would make a nice vacation but I bet that Uber and your insurance would be a bit upset with a bill from Uber for 715 miles one way.
I just came from the eye doctor myself. I was cutting a limb on a tree that was hanging low and hitting me in the face when I mowed. The butt was above my head and when I cut it I got a blast of chain saw dust in my eyes when a breeze came up. I ended up with an abrasion on the underside of my left eye lid and what he described as a "small divot" (minor laceration) in the corner of my eyeball. He prescribed a steroid/antibiotic eye drop to use 4 times a day for a week and go back for him to check it again. I came in the house and flushed my eyes immediately but he said it looked like a chip of the sawdust had gotten caught up under my eyelid and gouged it. Nothing serious but aggravating and uncomfortable as hell. Lesson learned. I have a full face shield that I wear when operating the shop equipment. I was too lazy to go get it.
Major project of the day today is creating an 8 foot gate in the 6 ft. high, wooden fence to the back yard so I can get in and out with a vehicle and my little flatbed trailer. Just a note. Wrestling with a six foot high by eight foot wide section of treated wood fence is NOT a one man task. I finally cut it in half with the chain saw and it was STILL heavy.

The same thing happened to me a couple years ago when I got dust in my eye from using a chainsaw. I was able to flush it out, no damage done. I'm nearsighted so when doing close work I have a bad habit of taking them off. However, when using a chainsaw on go the safety glasses. I hate bifocals.
