I would qualify! I have tatooes and I am a dirty old man. What else do I need on my resume? Hell if I knew young women would stand on my chest with baggy legged shorts and let me look up "past Christmas and damned near to NewYear" I would have joined the traveling show years ago, heehee!
It would have been a much less expensive approach, than the idea of becoming a gynegologist. Oh well. I guess with a "prime rib" here at home, I don't need to lay on a bed of nails and look at someone else's taco, hahahaha!

Home from the fair for a little bit to do some laundry. Been a bit wet, but fun. My son is doing good with his calf. The calf however, is not impressed at all to be there! haha. I have one of those "haven't gotten enough sleep" headaches. I'll check back in on Sunday and let you know how it all went. Hoping for some nice weather for the next 3 1/2 days!

Take pictures, please! Get your rest. I'll do a old native American dance here in Mohawk for sun up that way.

I had a cousin who was the Geek (half man, half animal) at Sea Breeze. People paid 10 cents ("one TENTH of a dollah") to get into the tent. Then Louie would jump down into the pit, prance around for a few minutes, then bite the head off a chicken (plastic), spraying blood (fake) all over the audience which would flee the tent in seconds, thereby reducing the time between shows.

www.postcardpost.com/bvl.htmCan you imagine all the hard work, family enjoyment, and tragedy that poured into that Fair over all the years? Amazing!

Home at last! We got rained on quite a bit but nothing like they got back here at home!! We lost a cow to lightning, shingles were blown off our roof, our grill (which is quite heavy) was moved to the opposite side of our deck and turned on it's side, plants blown off the porch and I haven't dared go look at my garden!! Geez, go away for awhile and everything goes to heck!!! Anyway......glad to be home. The fair was fun. My son did well for his first show and so did his calf. They really got the hang of things by the end of the week. I have to say, I was pretty sick of all the "boys with toys" shows that went on all week. Tractor pulls, truck pulls, monster truck show, demo derby. I can't believe it's the end of July already!

Glad you are home safely. Sorry to hear about the storm damage. Hope your garden survived unscathed.
Are cows insured? Does the duck cover them if they are hurt and can't work (give milk)haha?
No seriously, I am just curious if they are insurable, or if you simply have to bite the bullet for the loss of an animal to lightning.
Enjoy sleeping in your own bed, and waking up in the house instead of the camper, haha. Glad your back safely and glad ginger and your son did well.

Yes, they are insured. Just had to have the Vet come out and look at her to make sure that's what happened.
It was nice to sleep in my own bed!

Wow! You lost a cow to lightning? You mean like the bolt hit the ground near the cow, or just how. That sort of natural elemental stuff always fascinated me.
Glad to hear that the Fair was run this year. The Woodsman Field Days are next, correct? I have not been to either event for years, although I'm always in and out of Boonville during the season. Maybe next year!

Most often it strikes the ground near where they are. Sometimes it will hit near a group of cows and they will all drop. Most or all will get up, but usually there is one or two that don't. Usually the cows all head for the woods when a storm is coming but I think this one snuck up on them fairly fast. The lightning was ahead of the actual rain by quite a bit. Nobody saw what happened on Sat. so we don't know if the whole bunch got hit or she was out there by herself.

Wow, that is something. Well, glad that it wasn't more than one anyway. What do you actually do with a dead cow. I mean, besides deal with the remains. Is a lightning struck cow able to be butchered if it can be gotten to quick enough. Okay, yeah, this is my last lightning question, I promise.
