Will Kathy and I stay awake for the ball drop or will we just fall asleep in 2019 and wake up in 2020? I guess that remains to be seen.
We will start our "celebration at 8 pm with Hoda and Jenna and a toast to 2019, followed by an evening of flipping back and forth from Carson Daly and NBC' New Years Eve from Times Square, and Dick Clark's New Years Rockin Eve with Ryan Seacrest.
Snacks? 1 lb of jumbo shrimp for shrimp cocktail with home made cocktail sauce, a cheese and cracker tray with cheddar, pepper jack, and muenster and sliced pepperoni, and a tray of veggies with a ranch dip. Much of that stuff will be in the fridge covered in saran come tomorrow. We will be snacking on it again tomorrow, and maybe for several evenings, haha.
We were invited to a BYOB party at the house of one of our bowling friends with a 1/4 keg of draft beer for those tha don't drink hard liquor, but we politely told them we would rather stay home and celebrate with just the two of us. I am sure that the party would have been fun, but some of our fellow bowlers are heavy drinkers and party animals. They get pretty well loaded in the three hours that we bowl. I can only imagine how plastered they might get by midnight. I told Kathy that number one, I don't want to spend the evening watching people get drunk, and number two, I don't want to go out on the roads with all the drinking that will be going on and the drunks weaving their way home loaded. I have grown to be an old fuddy duddy. I have no desire to watch people drink themselves into a stupor and make an ass of themselves. Been there done that, haha. On the bright side, unless I come down with the flu I won't wake up tomorrow with a splitting headache and my head in the toilet.
I hope you all have a wonderful New Years Eve, wherever you go or however you choose to celebrate. If you drink, drink responsibly, and don't drive. Be safe and enjoy. Eat, drink, and be merry. Yes guys, in todays world, if you don't want to be merry, you can actually be MARY. haha.
