The Bosnian coffee looks a bit muddy and too potent for my liking. I bet it wakes you up though.

Is it gritty with grounds in it or is it filtered some way or another? I once had some sort of Italian coffee in the little cups that was very strong but had a gritty consistency because it was made with coffee that ground to a dust-like texture. I didn't see how it was prepared but I never ordered it again.

Turkish coffee is similar. The fine grounds are free in the water and it gets very strong as it simmers and it's gritty if you drink it right away. The secret is to let it sit for a minute or two to allow the grounds to settle to the bottom, and to gently sip it so as not to disturb them. I prefer espresso myself. That superfine sieve is a wonderful thing.

That superfine sieve is a wonderful thing. Letting the grounds settle is similar to the "hobo coffee" we used to make on fishing trips or while camping years ago. We would boil the coffee grounds in the water, and let it settle, and would pour a small quantity of cold water in our cup that would take the grounds to the bottom. My parents always used a percolator when we camped but when I was fresh out of the military and starting civilian life, my wife and I camped with a small umbrella tent, a camp stove and a couple of kerosene lanterns. We didn't have a percolator. We made hobo coffee or drank instant.
