POLAND HOLDING A MAYORAL ELECTION WITH NO CANDIDATES TUESDAY POLAND, N.Y. -- The village of Poland is holding a mayoral election Tuesday, but no one is actually running for mayor. Mayor Mary Paul has decided to step down for personal reasons, so the election will be to replace her position. But how do people vote if there aren’t actual candidates? Village officials say a write-in candidate will be chosen. If the winner does not want the position, they have to resign and then the village will appoint a replacement at that point. The village has a population of 500 people. Polls are open from 12 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday at the village office on Case Street. www.wktv.com/content/news/Poland-holding-a-mayoral-election-with-no-candidates-Tuesday-507307911.htmlGood.
