Typical government idiocy. It may make sense to consolidate procurement and warehousing in a central location, but to ship milk to Virginia and back would make absolutely no sense. I would think that local procurement and timely delivery of perishables would be a top priority. Not only would the transportation costs be detrimental to Byrne Dairy, but the milk would be several days old by the time it made the trip to Virginia and back to the mess halls and commissary at Fort Drum and other military locations in the state. And we wonder why government spending is out of control.
