If you have MS Office files the simplest may be to upload them to your One Drive and download as needed, Other files may depend on the application. I am currently trying to figure out how to handle my Turbo Tax files next year if I replace my computer.

Nobody is any dumber than I am when it comes to being computer savvy. I have managed to carry my dumb hind end from XP to Windows 7, to Windows 8.0, 8-1, and now to Windows 10. I have no problems so far with Windows 10. I like it better than 8.1, but then I don't get deep into any fancy stuff other than my normal surfing and reading, social networks, blogs, and researching subjects using the common and popular search engines. With your knowledge Chris and Dave I am sure that you will figure it all out and be happy with Win 10. I have a friend that is in charge of the entire IT department for KAVAC Foods, a locally based large grocery chain. He has nothing but praise for Win 10, so I figure it must have all the capabilities necessary to satisfy an IT expert.

My brother emailed me about a MS software to use called PC Mover Express. www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/transfer-your-data Its free and works on Windows XP to Windows 10. My PC is supposed to be delivered sometime today and then the sweating begins. I have a Clickfree external hard drive that I already ran to back up all my files. Not sure why but when backing up files to hard drive I always wonder if its saving everything or if something got left behind. So that's my biggest worry. I wish he lived here instead of Albany so he could come over and help a sister out. UPDATE: Fedex has just arrived. Hurray now I can go out and enjoy some of this nice weather and deal with the PC when I get back home.

Still on XP... I got so PO'd with Dell that I shipped it back to them....They in turn took roughly 47 days to refund my money. Dell is nothing like it use to be. So now back to square one.

Sorry to hear that. So far I am reasonably pleased with the Win 10 Dell I bought a couple months ago. Relatively low end but it does have a touch screen and a hinge which allows me to rotate the keyboard completely under the screen and use it like a large-ish tablet if I'm just reading but use a keyboard if I want to write.

I'm not recommending it because I haven't even touched it but today's Best Buy ad has a Levono touch screen notebook with OK specs for $280,

I've bought two Lenovo Think Station desktops in the past 7 or so years. They're great. I got them refurbished from IBM (anyone can) at a great price. Just recently bought a used Dell because I could not get the configuration I wanted in the used Lenovos. I've had it for a few months now and no problems.
