The turn-out at the forum tonight was sad - probably less than ten people.

The meeting was well-organized by Howard Mettleman. It was broken down into three categories - Points of Pride/Challenges/Characteristics. Even though there were just a few people, they had alot of ideas! As far as challenges, morale was a big one. My favorite for characteristics - "Must have the ability to collaberate and not dictate". Boy, does that hit the nail on the head!

A small turn out is to be expected. That way, when you get to the very end of the process, everybody can write letters to the editor claiming the district refuses to listen to public input.

Now, now, Frank. Maybe folks just find it hard to get excited about choosing someone to lead the education of their kids while pulling down the salary of a General Motors executive.

Right, they should focus on more imortant matters. I forgot.
BTW, Howard Mettleman is a class act. In my experience, he struck me as an educator with great administrative skills. He showed me he can pay attention to details while keeping the big picture in mind.
If he's involved, I'm assuming he's providing assistance to the board in their search for superintendent. It's a service the BOCES provides without any additional expense but not all school boards take advantage of it.

I agree with you Frankcor. Mettleman certainly does seem to have his act together. I feel confident that he will report his findings to the BoE with the utmost honesty. One of the problems with Wboro is that they don't advertise enough for these things. Maybe a little blurb in the paper and it goes up on their website the day before. That's not enough - I don't read the paper and many people don't own a computer, let alone visit the school webpage daily. Same goes for the Budget Hearing and their Board meetings. Most of the time, the times listed on their site and in the paper are wrong and their agenda doesn't get onto the site until the day of the meeting, if at all.
