Hey suinshine, you are the "go to gal" when it comes to UPD shit. What is with the rumors on Topix that Pylman is leaving. Is it true? taht will be a burden off the city taxpayer to nullify that over paid contract. I don't get all the news here, unless it is on this forum or in the OD. I miss going to Roger's coffee shop on Varick Street in the morning after I got off work at the OD. What the paper didn't print, you could get the word on at Roger's. Not only that, it is such a squeaky clean, and classy atmosphere. Like the Trinkaus for the coffee shop crowd! LOLOLOL!

Yes, Eric is their PR guy. I've looked around their site and have gleaned some information. They've sprung 216 prisoners to this point. A NY Times article in 2005, when their score was 163 freed, said only 2 had been charged with further serious crimes and one of them was convicted. So recidivism would seem to be very low. Also, my count of their list of cases where the real perp was found (but they don't say whether he/she was convicted) totals 81. I'll assume that those exonerations were therefore incontrovertible, although there is of course room for doubt. So in the other 135 cases, I don't know how the accused was shown to be not guilty. I browsed through some of the 216 case files and was not surprised to find that most involved rape and that later DNA testing showed the accused's DNA did not match the evidence. In one interesting case, Herman Atkins was convicted on eye witness testimony (which is admittedly often wrong, even from the victim) and other circumstantial evidence, supported by tissue evidence that indicated a high but not conclusive probability of his culpability. The Innocence Project found that vaginal swabs used up in the initial testing could not be re-tested. However, they found that spermatozoa on the victim's sweater did not match Herman's DNA. No further details were given in the case file, but one could reasonably wonder how sperm on your sweater from another man proved you were not raped by Herman. Unless, possibly, you were a nun. Herman's case brings to mind a reported by-product of criminal DNA testing. Some prosecutors say that with the publicity of such testing and the dramatization of it on such tv shows as "CSI," juries who would have rightly convicted on circumstantial evidence in the past will not now do so without definite genetic evidence. This will allow, they say, a number of murderers to go free and to kill again.

Bobbbiez,
Who the hell do you think you are barking at? Do you know who I am or what I am capable of missy? Let me just tell you a thing or two.
Firstly, I made a bunch of typos in that post.
Secondly, I am as much of a ballbreaker as the next guy, maybe bigger and love a practical joke. ' Third, maybe we are talking about 2 different people. Unfortunately I do not recall the name of the guy that was at the courthouse on Law Day, but could probably find out through a couple of attorneys.
And lastly, did I have ya goin? Still love you too LOL!!!!!
(I was just kiddin, I aint skeered!!!! You'll see if you come to jury duty. That was you that may have to serve, right? )
