www.uticaod.com/news/x1611215360Wow!!! Who would have thought? I figured they would have to carry him out of there. I think this puts a close on and era in the UPD. Having worked with him a few times I always thought he was a very courteous and professional Officer. I hope he enjoys his retirement.

WTG, Dick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He deserves the best and I wish him all of that and much more. ;D One of the best Cops Utica ever had. He was known a "hard ass" in his younger days but he took care of business. The younger recruits coming on today could learn alot from Dick but it's Dick's time to enjoy life now. God Bless you Dick. I wish you the happiness you truly deserve and earned.

Ralph, thanks for posting. I had to chuckle as I read through the article and comments and remembered the kid I went to Blessed Sacrament school with. Somewhere in this desk I have a photo of Rich and myself standing together in a line of other soon-to-be-fallen saints at our First Communion. Our hands are piously pointed upward toward a God who would hopefully be understanding. And evidently He was. I didn't see Rich after high school, but would read about he and his brother from time to time. Two things stuck out in the story that I can verify never changed from the time he was 5 years old: 1. that slow gravely voice, and 2. his helpfulness and good manners.

He got appointed to the police force when he was only 6 years old??? Cool! Talk about a young and impressionable cop. Probably did the undercover work as a plant when the lunchboxes were being stolen from the 1st grade room at Kernan, in 1950, hahahaha! He was a rookie in the late 60's silly! I wouldn't tell your age, but you already told us when you graduated from UFA, and about hanging at Schoolview in 60. Sorry about that, ya old fart, ahhaahha! I am just a puppy compared to you and Stemmer!hehehe!

I'm so constipated I would celebrate having an accidental load occasionally.
