swimmy, you are so right and I admire you for your mature ways. It is so refreshing to hear a young person like yourself who has such good qualities. The world isn't doomed yet. Question for you, where did you do your internships? Was it here in Utica? The only reason I'm asking is because my daughter has been a paralegal for 15 years now with one of the biggest firms here and she has met quite a few interns. Just thought you might know each other. STUDY HARD!!!

Yoiu've got to see "What would Jesus Buy," a great film about American shopping mania, starring the "Reverend" Billy and the Stop Shopping Church Choir. I saw it two weeks ago at an alternative film fest. See a preview of sorts at:

No need to apologize, I'm a fairly patient man, especially when it comes to the Internet. Have a safe trip. :-)

losjibaros, losjibaros, losjibaros. Who you calling old farts on this board? Watch it "boy" you don't want to ruffle my feathers tonight. Ain't in the mood for your disrespectful crap. Sorry, but I'm probably in a bad mood because I don't take any medication like alot of you young fools take that clouds minds, bodies and memories. Nothing wrong with my memory young man. I do remember when I was young and the streets were not even close to being as trashy as it is now, never mind just in the music. I do remember when respect was practiced in all ways. I do remember my friends and I having respect for others, especially our elders. We would never even consider calling an older person an "old fart." My father was a man's man and very well respected in the community and respected in the sport community here in Utica. He was a foreman in a local foundry and I'm sure when he was with his men he swore right along with them, but when he came home to his wife and four daughters he left the man stuff at work. We never heard my Dad swear once in our home, never mind on the streets. I guess, losjibaros, that's what you call being respectful and what you have not learned. Please do me a favor, don't try to justify the crap we have to listen to on the streets today by comparing it to 30 years ago, because young man it's just alot of bull crap and I'm not buying it. I'll put my memory against yours any day. The streets were 100 per cent better 30 years ago then they are today. And by the way young man. Sorry, but I never in my younger days or in my whole life had sex with any stranger, anytime, anywhere. That's probably why us old farts didn't end up like that poor Holloway girl. Wow!!! I feel much better now. Glad I got that off my chest. I couldn't have said it any better ;D You said everything I would have! I also don't consider myself an "Old Fart" and it is just another example of "Los" lack of respect for others.

As a Mother of 2 boys & 2 girls (also lost my 4 year old son), Grandmother to 9 (6 girls & 3 boys) and Great Grandmother of 3 (1 girl & 2 boys - another one on the way), I feel I am very "qualfied" on what is needed to bring children up.
The biggest thing any parent can give their child doesn't cost a dime. All a child really needs is your time and knowing you love them. To raise a child and teach them respect, manners, consideration for others, and maintaining good values will all result in an adult that is beneficial to society - not a drain on society.
Children don't "need" all the latest electronic "toys" out there to be happy. Just ask any Foster Child. What they really want is your love and guidance which requires you to be able to say "NO" when needed, and to inforce rules of discipline when needed.
The time to be "friends" with you children are when they become adults - not when they are still living under your roof and dependent upon you for their welfare.
I'm proud to say that ALL of my children and grandchildren are now grown or young adults and still consider me the "Best Friend" - especially when they need some advice. And everyone of them were brought up with the "old fashion" manners and values of years ago.

The below quotes from LJ sum it all up. He does it all for the shock impact, and must be on some sort of medication that causes young farts to lose all respect, including self respect.[
"Swimmy, 30 years ago there was plenty of this stuff around.. 30 years ago half the old farts on this board were having sex with strangers durring the summer of love... "
"Its all the friggin medication the doctors put them on.. they cant remember what it was like when they were young. Fu*k is a nasty word.. its a curse word.. be thankful for the fool that blabbers it in public for he tells you right away what you might otherwise have to guess about him..."
"I did happend to embarass myself last week.. i was pouring a 20oz coffee in the convient store and when i spilled it down my right pant leg.. yelled MOTHER F*CKER everybody in the store turned and looked at my... my son pretended he didnt know me...."[/quote]

I guess Los Jibaros summed it all up except for one false statement. In the 60's when our generation was growing up, we didn't have sex with "strangers", and that is probably why we had to wait for AIDS to be brought to the forefront my the next generation. The "summer of love " scenario he speaks of, was observed by unbathed, hallucinagenic drug addicted, pot heads, with antiwar signs and cheap beads around their necks. It was not subscribed to by any responsible majority of young people.
I find it very humorous that he states " be thankful for the fool that blabbers "f*ck in public, for it tells you right away what you might otherwise have to guess about him", and then in the next paragraph, describes how he said "mother f*cker, in a store in front of his kid"
I don't know how old the kid is, but he obviously knows what defines" inappropriate language" in public, better than Daddy does.
Thank God one of the medications our generation is on, seems to bolster our "good sense"!
My experience has been that if you don't use those type of words at all, they don't just "pop out" and embarrass you at other times. I am not a saint, and I cuss plenty, but those words are just not part of the everyday vocabulary.
