RE: Page 1 - frankcor asked what an American Stratocaster might be worth today. A friend of mine here in New Hampshire is an avid collector of Fender guitars and tells me that my 1964 American Stratocaster (Sunburst) if in pristine condition could be worth up to 30K. It all depends upon condition, whether everything works right, and whether there have been any modifications made. His best advice is DO NOT MODIFY or refinish the older guitars. Clean them up as best you can and be sure to procure authentic vintage Fender parts from Fender if you plan to restore the guitar. John has seen Strats go for over 25K and original Les Pauls for into the 40K range. --Chuck--

Chuck, welcome to here! Yeah, $30K sounds about right. I saw a '64, all original parts, appraised for that much on Antique's Road Show. The owner had paid $300 for it in '67. I'd love to hear what that Farfisa sounded like pushed through a Leslie. But then, everything sounds great through a Leslie.

There is probably enough lacquer in all that hairspray to clear coat a Buick, LOL.

Wow, I typed that short post about hairspray, and by the time I hit the "post reply" there were four more posts ahead of me, LOL.
Glad to see that you found your way onto the forum Chuck. I had told my Uncle Jim that you had registered, and he asked me if you were posting to the thread. I guess you and Jim speak now and again? I will call him later and tell him you are actively posting, and maybe my Aunt Pat will bring the forum up for him to read. He doesn't "do computer".

I have a question about the keyboard players in Eric's band? Were they Chuck Schoenley, Frankie Convertino, & Fred Faccioli in that order? Thanks! Also, if someone could list the bass players before Dale. The band was an inspiration to a bunch of us"kids" getting into the music scene.

Hmmm! I noticed that in the photos of Eric & The Chessmen on this page, Dale Ryder was playing a Fender Jazz Bass exactly like the one I had bought in New York. Must be he liked the sound. Actually, It was a great instrument.
Does anybody know if Joe LoConti has a brother (younger I think) named Tony?

As for bass players: First was Jo Loconti, then Me, then Dale. That's it.

Jon thanks!! Great picture of the Chessmen. Slivers (Sliveee) has the same drums to this day. His cymbals were the highest in the business back then. Tom toms were up there pretty good too. He still plays great drums with Holidae. I noticed the cherished Binson Echo Rec behind Eric in the picture. Brings back a lot of memories!

I never saw Slivers play in Holidae but did meet him at the Sting. He was bartending there. A real nice guy.

Jon:
It was interesting to see the Parkway Garden photos. What a bunch of skinny runts. I do not recall the year, but I beleive it was the early 60's. Thanks for memories.
