We went there a couple of times to see a transvestites show, which I have to say was fantastic.

Does anyone remember a band called the Alligators (I think) from the late 70's/early 80's? The leaders name was Johnny and they played around the valley area. I think they played JD's lounge in Ilion a few times.

Dan, I remember hearing the name, "The Alligators,"but don't know a thing about them. Dave and jonhynes would be the ones to get you info on the group. ;D They're great at that stuff.

Yep, that's the John I remember, but not the other members. With a few more minutes to think I came up with the drummers name, Pat. He did a mean wipeout. I can't remember the 2nd guitar. And no tux's. John Rodzinka is the lead I remember with this other band.

The Drummer you are trying to remember would be Pat Crabb. Pat was in the group when we were 'Johnny and the Hot Rods'. That group was Johnny Rodzinka-Guitar, Pat Crabb-Drums, Hal Muthig-Saxophone and Jon-Hynes-Bass. We played as a Disco Band and we were finally able to talk John into changing and becoming a Fifties band instead of Disco. We started at Cherry's in Herkimer and were loved. The owner wanted us to sign on long term every Friday and Saturday but Johnny worked as a Night Watchman on Saturday nights at that time so we couldn't take the job. We later ended up playing at Arnold's Drive-In in Utica as the house band.

Ahh, the veil is lifting! I didn't know you were a member. My girlfriend at the time and myself used to follow you guys around. My brother worked with Pat at his day job. I have a memory of the "stage" collapsing under Pat one night at a motel bar between Frankfort and Ilion. You guys made some great music.

Jonhynes, did Hal Muthig live in North Utica, and work for one of the radio stations? We had a tenant named Muthig rented from my mom and dad in N Utica for a while.

That's Hal. Long time Radio personality. Then went into Politics.
#Reply 75 above is what he looked like even though the picture was taken when Hal and Johnny were 14
Pat Crabb worked as Manager at Friendly Ice Cream in South Utica. Then started his own Real Estate company.

I had forgotten about the Hacienda on top of Deerfield Hill. I had a lot of fun up there over the years, but also took some hair raising trips back down from there at 2 AM in the wintertime, haha.
