:)The pictures are great. Bob Perry is in one of those pics. He played music on up into the late 90's or so. The last time I heard him play and sing was at the moose club in Marcy. He was a "one man" act, with the exception of the periodic accompaniment by a lady I assume was his wife or girlfriend (I don't know his marital status) I followed Bob Perry for years when he was singing and playing country. His dad was a world class fiddler, and Bob sang and played with his dad's band for years. They played such places as the Black Dahlia in Poland NY and Partners Choice in Marcy. the last time I listened to Bob at the moose, he was starting to lose his vocal ability to cigarettes and age. It was sad to listen to him and recall his earlier popularity. Age catches up to us all. Another great local country talent from the Partner's Choice days is Bob Lynn, the guy that owns the septic tank outfit. Did he have a history back into the 60's and early rock and roll, Dave? He also went by the wayside with throat trouble and loss of vocal ability. I am enjoying the threads and photos. Thanks for bringing them to us.

I have just signed on to your website......I have been the better part of an hour_ trying to figure out how to post an item on it...You certainly do not make it easy...... I am the vocalist of a record recorded in Utica. N.Y. on "Mark Records" in the early 50's...The group was called "The 5 Plaids"_ it was the "original" - 5 Plaids...and the record title was called "Out To Lunch"...It consisted of myself on vocals & bass_ Guy Vivenzo on tenor saxophone_ Dick Laurey on drums_ Jimmy Palladino on guitar_ [and when Jimmy left Utica} he was replaced by Bob Perry on guitar and vocals...and Chuck Daniels on piano..... The song was written by Carl Swanson_ who at the time was on the radio_ under the name "Mr. Sunshine"....
I have played and sang music all my life and I 'm still doing the same...I have worked with many Utica musicians in the past_ Ronnie Cardillo_Joe DePalma_Gates Intino_ Rock Masercola_ and in the early days_ I was the bass player and vocalist with the late "Tony Madonia" from Rome. N.Y. Tony & I spent many summers @ the "Lake Shore Hotel" @ Sylvan Beach. N.Y. Those were the days... My career and accomplishments were many through the years...Not enough space here to mention them all. But I was traveling with "The Carmen Cannavo Revue" coast to coast in the "seventies"...That was a super time in my life...
And just a short note to say to all the "Bob Perry Fans"_ He is still in the singing business...He will be appearing @ the Moose Club in Ilion, N.Y. this coming Saturday [Jan. 24th] 7-11 P.M. And guess what_ I'll be joining him on bass & vocals [after 55 years]...Ought to be one hell of a reunion...Hope to see all you 50's & 60's fans in Ilion this Saturday...Old times are still alive and well....God Bless...[ oh by the way_ my name is Fran Loucks ]...........

Yes it is difficult to get the hang of it at first. It is not US that makes it difficult. It is the Proboard's format. I changed recently and it damned sure didn't improve in my opinion, but they host the forum for free so we have little to say about it. Ralph is the one on here with the technical knowledge to keep it all rolling. I started the forum but I am a real dummy when it comes to the tech stuff. Welcome aboard. Dave and Clarence have a lot of tech savvy also, and Dave is a former musician and along with Jon Hynes was instrumental in getting this Be Bop thread up and running. It runs all the way back to 2008 if you ever want to simply go back and look at the past posts and comments. Lot's of history, great photos, and great reading.
I was always a big Bob Perry fan when I lived up there. I saw him play last at the Moose in Marcy when it was open. We have been here in Bristol Tn for 12 yrs now. I was also a big fan of his dad back in the day. Waaayyy back to before he even bought the Black Dahlia in Poland. Probably first listened to him play in the 60's.

Hey Fran... haven't heard from you in a long time. Nice to see you in this thread on Clipper's Busy Corner.
Remember frolicking in Ogdensburg back in the early 60s with The Capri Three? What times we had back then, huh? My band, The Nitecaps, started in the Down-Under Room at McConville's when you left.
Keep posting. I'm sure you have lots of stories to share.

Hi Fran:
Greetings from Butch DeAngelo. Bob Perry is my cousin and his father the world class fiddler is my uncle. I recall seeing and hearing all of the family in my grandparents dining room on Saturday nights playing and singing country music with plenty of family and neighbors on Nielson St. Joe's wife,my aunt Ann was a very good country singer. And boy could she yodel. I can still hear her voice today.

From the Utica Daily Press 1962 Chuck Booth "Jazz Beat" He writes: The Utica jazz scene from local bar restaurants, etc. Birdland with the B3 organ in house with Ray Jackson from NYC. The Towne House featuring Art Zito and Augie LaMonica, Cannonball Adderley to headline the Adirondack jazz festival. Munson Williams jazz series with special guest Sam Mancuso and his sextet; and Proctor High dances featuring; Rocco Masercola and the Versatones; Ronnie Zito and his quintet. All of these musicians went on to do very well in their careers.

Welcome Fran......I haven't heard from you in quite some time, and glad to hear you are doing OK. I have been doing some entertaining, not as much as I would like, because the music of our generation has gone away, and all we have now is trash, idiotic, inane, and forgettable noise!!..I miss the days when we were all dressed, and looking like a band, and enjoying our audiences, and playing what they wanted to hear. Remember going to Uncle Henry's after for breakfast, and busting each others chops, and enjoying all the pimps, and hookers that were there!!!................great times. Hope to be at bob perry's next gig in may, and as always he continues to entertain for the audience, a great friend, and a great musician. Stay in contact, and take good care.............................Sonny Dee.....

Hey john, nice to hear you are alive and well, and still performing. I am doing okay, but curtailed a lot of entertaining, as I have to stay close to home, because of parent's health, and no longer travel to gigs. I still do the occasional karaoke, and some of the old guys are still performing. Steve's big band is doing great, and al torchia is doing great, as well as john phoenix, and guy, and Donnie. Don DeLuca is still performing, as is bob perry. Glad to hear you are keeping the music alive, and still rocking. I may take you up on your offer, but will have to stay here for awhile, as parents are both very elderly, and need me to watch over them.........................all the best, stay cool, and stay in touch. sonny........................

Don't ask me what made me look at this web site today, but I an glad I did. Actually I was thinking about Tony Madonia from Rome NY for some reason. I was his drummer in the early 60s. I left in 62 to go off to CA and beyond. When I saw the post from Frannie Loucks (aka "Frannie Love" during his days with the Madmen I just had to say hello to him and Bob Perry our guitar guy in those days. Guy Vivenzo and many of the other musicians from East Utica and I go back along, long way. I have not played in many years, but glad to see the others are still active. I have not been back in the Utica area in a long time. My brother still lives in the area, and I am always saying I will go bACLK
