I didn't see any posts about the reunion since July 18th. I was very busy on Aug 17th and 24th at the Erie Canal Village and wasn't able to make the reunion on either of those two dates.
I'm wondering if the reunion ever took place, and how it went. Can anyone fill me in?

Hey Kit it went well didn't break the bank but did very good for those charity. Had lot of people stop by that I did not see in a long time so that made it a happy time. We had a guy there that was the head of the blues society there and it was so funny because I'm a member of the blues society here in Pensacola Fl. I host the jam every Monday night been doing it now for ten years. I just found out went we did the second set all blues songs someone hired a guy to record the set on DVD I'm waiting now to get the DVD in the mail. If it turned out ok would you like a copy? Sorry we missed you but life comes first. I'm thinking about doing next years reunion to raise money for all the past players that we lost over the years. I was thinking of getting some kind of plaque made and have it posted some were in town. I've been talking with Frank Vasecra he is board member for the city and he can help with this . My thought was to hold it in the park at day time and have all kinds of vendors there helping to raise funds. This way we get more people at the reunion. If things turn out right we can post the plaque at the park with all the musician names posted. Maybe even get there families in on it. Well it's a wild thought got any feed back or I'm I reaching to high.

My friend, Elaine, and I attended the reunion and we had a great time seeing Jay and some old faces from the past once again. We could only stay for a few sets because I actually got out of a sick bed to attend. Good crowd at the reunion with many new faces also. All had a great time with the dance floor being used most of the evening. Good job Jay! Jay, good to see you again and was very happy you and Charlie could make it over for our cook out. Looking forward to whatever you decide for next summer's reunion. Keep us informed. ps: Next year I promise to remember to bring my camera so we can post some pictures.

Jay and Bobbbiez... thanks for the feedback. I hadn't heard about the Jam so I didn't know if the event happened or not. Glad it did, even though it wasn't a huge money-maker.

Jay, It would depend on how many local people would support it. It would be important to have some local musicians helping you organize and promote it at this end. Maybe a lot of old-timers that don't read Clipper's Corner would attend, just for the nostalgia angle, if they knew about it. Sadly, many of the old bee-boppers aren't around any more, but many of the old hackers and groupies still are and I'm sure they'd love to get together with the old performers.

I'm trying to plan a reunion for 2014 to be held for all the dear musician we lost in the past years. I would like to have some kind of placard put up in Utica with there names on it. I would also like to get there family in on this project. This will be a great way of remembering there love ones and how much talent they had. Well some feed back would be in order what do you think be nice now.... Your thoughts Kit will always be needed and I do think I can get the city on this band wagon. If I get enough people in on this we might get it pushed thru. Getting all the family in on it will do the trick. Like I said before do it on a weekend at a park and have vendors and more bands playing or just one big jam session. Vendors will make money and donate some of there profits to the charity plus sell tickets to the event. This I hope to start getting the ball rolling in Jan 2014 with the help of God and people like you and any one else who wants to help me please.......NYE

How about calling the next event the “Reunion Jam-and-Tribute?” Good idea to include our departed musicians, but I think rather than just their names, a photo of the musician would be a better draw. I'm sure that someone in each of their families has a nice photo or photos of the departed that could be copied (which wouldn't damage the original). They could all be printed in 5x7 or 8x10, depending on how many photos you end up with, and displayed on an easel board like they do at funeral homes.
Getting the city involved is a great idea. They might be more inclined to do that if the theme of the event featured the city of Utica and how many great musicians started there. They could copy the individual photos and make the prints – all the same size. They might even have easel display boards to showcase the photos on. Depending on how excited they are about the idea, they may even pay for promotional items like signs and advertisements.
The key would be to not try to do everything yourself from out-of-town. If you'd like to brainstorm a little further, you can email me at kit.temple40@gmail.com or phone me at 315-733-4315. I'd be happy to make suggestions (which you can throw in the wastebasket if you want to) to help in making the 2014 Jam a bigger success.
