I think I was the one that had the major "misunderstanding" with you, and caused the major upset. You were not to blame. I was misconstruing your remarks and went off in my former manner. Nobody "loves to hate you" that I know of. I started the anti SFCCummings rant, and I am sorry it ever happened. It was an unfortunate misunderstanding for which you took the brunt of the flak.
As you know, I have come to know and respect you, and we are all very happy to have you on the board here. I am pretty sure you are the only member posting from outside the US. You are also the only soldier on the list so far. That will bring an educated view to some subjects. I for one, am grateful for your service to our country and proud to be your friend.
This forum is great, and we are really happy to have you as a part of it. I hope it brings you the educational opportunities as well as the entertainment that it brings me. Open discussion is really enlightening, and I for one, took a long time to appreciate that fact.
I am not the ranting old fool you first met, and I love all of our members. We have come together amazingly fast and tight here on this board, and it is like a family already. I hope and think that the discussions on this board or forum will be heated at times, but not nasty or attacks on any persons. You and others taught me the fundimentals of discussing without degrading the opinion of others, and the real benefit of varying opinions.
Don't be a stranger, post often, and have a ball!

I must have missed that. I was not aware you were in the armed services, jrcummings. Good for you, and thank you for your service. I have the utmost respect for our service members. Keep up the great work.

Kinda of, he's the one who was bitching and complaining about the cops....and we all jumped all over him, then he and clipper had a girl fight over which era of the military was better.
A mutual respect was forged out of that misunderstanding. And it goes without saying that we all appreciate mr. Cummings service to our country.

If he's like any SFC I ever knew, he'd punch you in the eye for calling him "Mr."

If a SFC has an issue with a term of respect, i would call that his/her problem and not mine.

Heh, I had a CSM who insisted on being called his proper name at all times. I said "Good morning, Sarge" to him one time and at about 125 dB, he announced "My first name is Command Sergeant Major! My last name is Garrafolo! Use them both!" Even as a young E-4, I got the message.

To change his title to "Mr" would require "demoting" him to LT. hahha
A horrible fate for a proud NCO! haha Not really, it is a joke. Officers and NCO's alike make the military work and function with balance, and the highest honor for an NCO is to progress to the officer ranks.

well us civilian folks prefer to use Mr. Ms. Mame or Sir. I'm not part of the military, nor have I ever been. While I very much respect the work they do and am very much appreciative of the fact, I do not feel as though I am a subordinate thus there is no need for me to address them by their military title.
I'm not trying to be rude or disrespectful it's just the way I see it. Unless they wanna start addressing me as General Duges because I reached that rank on Socom Combined Assault (It's a video game).
I use Sir for LEO's regardless of rank, unless I was one. I only call professors I've had or who taught at my school as Dr. so and so. If you're a Dr. from Hamilton, your name is Mr. whoever.
While we're at it, you can call jibaros by his proper title, Dark overlord of the Elven forrest (he's a huge Dungeons and Dragons freak) He has an orc hewer that has a +9 against dark magic.......ha!......
Seriously though, I think it is a bit pretentious for anyone to expect me to address them by a title that has no bearing on my relationship with them. So SFC Cummings, you are hence forth known to me as Mr. Cummings......sorry if that offends you but it's the best I can do.

Umm. He plays D&D? Ummm. How about Magic? Vampire? Cthulhu? Is he in the SCA? There is a good chance I know him. I am not into those things, but a lot of my old friends from the Utica area are.

jduges, I don't believe SFC Cummings ever complained about or even mentioned the fact that you called him Mr. I think you're taking my strange attempt at being funny as an offense on the sergeant's part.
Not even CSM Garrofolo would expect civilians to address him by his military title. However, a wise-ass Spec. 4 with a Viet Nam tour's worth of bad attitude under his belt was another story...

I wasn't taking it seriously frank, nor was i speaking directly to Cummings. I just used your comment as my platform to rant about my feelings on the issue.
I know a lot of military boys from Ft Drum who have a sense of entitlement about them. Makes you nuts.
Kim- jibaros doesn't play D and D......or magic.......but you can't beat him at yugi oh or defeat him and his mythryl axe on runescape.
