Our local "redbox" is simply a vending machine that rents dvd's. You simply make a selection, swipe a debit or credit card, and it dispenses a rental dvd. I have seen it used in front of our local Walgreen's store, but have never used it myself. I don't know if you have to sign anything or not. There must be some sort of accountability built in so people don't simply grab a movie for a buck and never return it.

Correct its a beg red vending box. You touch the screen and see what movies are available. select your movie and swipe your card. The Blu ray dvd are a bit more for 24 hrs. (anything over 9pm is another day) its a dollar a day and if you don't return it watch that amount grow. In reality you can buy one for about $17.00 but if you didn't return it then watch the amount go from 1.00 to say 100.00 till you decided to return it. Want your dvd then to get it have to swipe your credit card. Nice thing is you can rent it on line and hold it but if you don't pick it up that day 1.00 charge cause you made the 24 hr deal. It lets you know which red box has it. In Wegmans where I rent mine they have 3 boxes so if I rented on line it would tell me to go to either A, B or C box. When returning you can drop it off at any redbox in the city /state whre ever there is one. www.redbox.com/facts

Well, as long as one can keep a schedule, a dollar day certainly isn't bad.

From what I read it says you don't need a computer so how do you get it from Netflix. It downloads straight to the box but you order movies on line. (keeping these notes for future use) Right now the way I watch a movie, I am guessing it is still cheaper for me to rent from Redbox. $1.00 or the library which is free. Sometimes I watch something free off Hulu. (they have lots of foreign films that I enjoy watching). Ralph when you say buy from them did you mean Netflix. They have one now for 49.00. I still own a 27 inch Magnavox and untill it dies have no intention of getting a flat screen. Has a beautiful picture and works fine. Does not look obsolete yet ;D No, the box you purchase from Roku. From that you can access your Netflix account or view one of the free channels they stream, including Hulu. If you can hook a VCR up to your TV via red & yellow RCA plugs on the back/front of your set, you can hookup the Roku box as well. I have one hooked up to our older Sony 27” and it works fine.
