Yeah Dave, you are so right. I remember when my daughter was in grade school and use to wish I was like all the other mothers. It didn't take her long to realize that she was one of the very few in her group that continued on to high school and graduated while many of her friends were at home taking care of their babies. By time she graduated from college her friends had more then one child to care for or should I say the welfare rolls took care of. She is now a highly respected businesswoman who can handle her life without the assistance from anyone. In our many conversations she always brings up how she felt about me when she was much younger and states if I were like all the other mothers that she would never have gone on and continued her education or would she be where she is today. It sounds so easy to listen to now but let me tell you it was a vicious fight all the way. There were times when I heard my little daughter tell me how much she hated me. I had to watch her cry her little eyes out because she couldn't do the same things her friends were allowed to do. God, it use to kill me not to be like all the other mothers, but the end results was well worth it seeing my daughter succeed in her life and feel the respect she holds for me now.

It is one of the things that happens around here. Doesn't seem to bother too many people though. All I can say is simply make a post back to the original subject golden, and it will bring us back on track. No offense meant in wandering, and no offense meant to your post either. Haven't heard from ya much lately. Hope you are well, and haven't been down sick or anything. If ya read some of the other threads that have run for a while, you will see that some of them wandered, and then someone posted a thread on the original subject and we went back to meaningful discussion on the original thread. No harm done.

Dear Golden, You must have missed the discussion we had about staying on topic. I believe the consensus was that we would frequently veer off topic on purpose just to confuse the newcomers. Only kidding. Welcome to Clipper's Busy Corner!

Guess I'm the chosen one. Back to the subject. Never been known not to say what I'm feeling and always believe in saying things the way they really are. Thelma you said, "you of all people should have more faith in our legal system." Ryan you said, "free entertainment when the cops bust the criminal." Well, having four out of five kids in the law field one way or another for many years now I have seen first hand many, many times where the justice system has failed. That is the reason why I don't keep the faith as strongly as many do. Do I believe in it completely. Hell no! Do I take everything I'm told by the system as fact? Hell no! Sometimes I fight the system more then I have to fight the criminal community. Why, it's not because "sometimes it takes longer to get justice served" but because someone in the system is not doing their job. I know I am called a bitch by many in the system but ask me if I care. I have found that many things are ignored too long by the system and when they finally decide to handle it the entire problem is out of control as in the drug problem Utica now faces. My children struggled to better themselves making all kinds of sacrifices and worked their asses off so they could afford to bring their children up in a nice, safe neighborhood. Why should they have to be afraid every day because some scumbag drug lord makes enough money on drugs to be able to purchase a house in that same neighborhood. What's wrong with this picture and what message is this giving out?? I sure as hell don't understand it. Sure maybe down the road he'll make a mistake and get busted but this guy isn't stupid and from the money he has it looks like he's been protected for quite awhile now. If and when he gets busted I'm sure it won't be "free entertainment" to the people living around him. It's pretty frightening wondering everyday if there will be a drug war in your beautiful neighborhood waiting for this guy to be busted. So far he's managing pretty damn good because he's been there for over two years now slapping everyone in the face. Thelma, you know first hand what I have dealt with in my neighborhood many times and I don't live in a prosperous neighborhood. I have informed you of the fights I have battled and not with the criminal but with the system. Yes, I was told "it takes time" to get rid of whatever problem only to find out way down the road that no one was even working on the problem. I was openly lied to by the system many times and you want me to have faith in it. I think not! The less faith I put in them the quicker I get them to address the problems. I will handle being known as a bitch and will continue to pressure the system but I bet my neighborhood will stay better off then many who put their complete faith in the system and believe everything they're told. Yep, it ain't perfect. It's the only one we've got right now but great improvements need to be made and the only way to do that is to always question it and keep on the ones that are running the system and I hope others wake up and join us that are not willing to wait for "it to take longer." LOCATION-LOCATION-LOCATION or thinking you live in a good neighborhood means nothing. All, no matter where one lives has to help focus on the troubled areas and it's problems or it won't be long before the undesirables will be in your own backyards. Hey Golden, how's that for getting back on the topic?

Bobbbiez - Yes, I still remember our coffee conversations of your fight in getting a drug dealer off your street -- which finally happened but took too long of a time before it was accomplished.
You are right about no neighborhood is safe from these drug dealers. There is a lot of money to be made in selling drugs which, in turn, buys the fancy sports cars and the "nice" expensive homes in our well to do neighborhoods.
All it takes is the willingness to chance getting caught and going to jail for a long, long period of time. This is NOT the type of risk I ever wanted to take so I'll just sit back and reap the rewards of my Pension and SS check that I've worked for my entire life!
And will keep saying my prayers that none of these scumbags move into my neighborhood.
