hahahha. It was no big deal. Basically, the mayor attacked Jim Zecca and I defended him. He said Jim was ruining the city. So I basically called him a crackpot and told him that it was him that continues to embarrass the city, and that Jim was working his butt off for the taxpayers. Then he flipped into a rage and kept saying "What did you call me?" I just stayed cool and said you heard me. Then he said "where's the officer". I laughed and asked him if he was going to arrest me for calling him a crackpot, which I might add that his own assistant called a constituent in the Utica Daily News. I'm just so fed-up with the way they are operating down there, and I take personal offense when they attack Jim. Jim called an emergency meeting to make sure that everything would be smooth in case the ambulance needed to cease operations tonight. He made it clear that his only concern was for the public's safety and to ensure that when someone called 911, an EMT would respond. The mayor and all other council members and fire officials (except Vescera) boycotted Jim's meeting, despite the city charter stating that they must attend or send a representative. THEN, during his committee meeting, the mayor held a press conference in the next room announcing the stay was issued until July 11th. They never even came into the committee room to let Jim and the guy from the regional EMS council (who came in from Syracuse) know.
So, rightfully so, Jim was extremely upset and questioned the mayor and chief when we went into the council chambers. When the mayor started attacking Jim and Frank, I simply told stuck up for them.

Damnit, I miss all the good ones! ;D Good for you! I was laughing my a** off at the Mayor. He acted like a little kid on a play ground who was being bullied. KTV only showed it for a few seconds. Glad you told me. it was driving me crazy to know.

Why does it seem like this administration is going back to the "bad old days"?

Calling him a crackpot might amount to a petty charge of harassment. Pfft. It is by far a tame sentiment in contrast to what most of us think of this mayor.
I saw the WKTV video clip earlier and I thought Roefaro was trying to imitate Robert De Niro in Taxi Driver. "You talkin' to me?" Yes, Travis we talkin' to you.

I heard 2 different things. I thought Larry told the mayor he was "starting to crack" (which he very well might be doing). In any event, don't take this the wrong way, Larry, but sometimes it's best to "Speak softly, and carry a big stick", as Teddy said. Many times in my career I made the mistake of brurbing (that's a technical term ) out exactly what I was thinking, which usually got me in some sort of hot water with somebody, & didn't do my credibility/reputation any good, even though I was right. Sometimes it's best just to document, observe, & then present the matter with all the ammunition you have accumulated in a calm & professional manner. I wish I had learned that early on rather than 20 years later, as many bridges would never have been burned.

Larry and I have discussed this issue many times but in this case Larry is safe cause no bridges here to burn. Mayor Roefaro will be history soon and so will many of his followers. ;D

You're right Bobbie. Sometimes Larry is very much like me (did I just say that??? ) when I was in the Social Services system; my mouth just wouldn't stop even though (I'm sure!) I was right. Damn. If I had known then what I know now..

Yep Stoney, been there, done that but always felt I could really give a sh*t what others thought. Always kept in mind what my Pop taught me..........."don't be afraid to stand up for what you believe is right, even if you find yourself standing alone." Got lonely lots of times but it never mattered. ;D

Very true, but there IS a way of doing that... It may take a little longer, but is a lot more effective.
