I'm gonna guess the story overheard by wcup is likely untrue. The Rome Sentinel tonight is reporting that the young man was friends with couple from NJ. He had left his home at 10:30 to visit the scene of their death. It doesn't match up with claims that he thought they were stupid.
I don't see the story online, sorry.

I was just saying that he was allegedly making comments about people from Jersey not knowing the trails and speeding after they have been drinking. I did not know they supposedly knew each other. Either way, what I posted was just what was related to me and the article made no reference. It still could be true to an extent. I wasn't saying he was bad mouthing the previously deceased. Next time I'll be sure to get a source, LOL!!!

I'm not buying that he went out there to see where they died. If that were true, then why go in such a hurry, knowing full well they died on that very same trial?
Either way I won't feel sorry for someone who took their own life foolishly.

wcup, I know you said it was something you had heard from another person. I was only pointing out that it didn't match what I read in the paper. And that the story in the paper matched what facts we know.

I've been reading on the OD thread about snowmobilers. Before I vent to my friends here on this forum, let me say that my family owns 8 snowmobiles and we ride when we get the chance on our own property or marked trails. My gripe is this.......people go buy a snowmobile........then they think 1000 acres comes with it! Yup, a lot of people ride on marked trails, but a lot more don't. Nobody asks permission if they can ride on your property, they just assume they can because it's there. 1/2 inch of snow and they are out there riding. Then come spring, we've got all this dead alfalfa that looks....surprising enough ...like the snowmobile trail that people created during the winter! But that doesn't matter because they were out there having fun and being responsible snowmobilers. Then when we tell people why we're not letting them put a trail on our property, we get attitude and nasty remarks. This was a last resort because we did try telling people that they could ride on farm property but please make sure there is at least a good amount of snow so they don't get down near bare ground. No dice. Ok, I'm done. Phew, I feel better.

Countrygal, good for you girl . Glad you feel much better. I have seen on the news many times of farmers that are very angry about the snowmobiler riding in their fields, which are "posted" and have ruined their crops. I do sympathize with you completely.

Along my road they had a bunch off pop tarts ride a 4 Wheeler through a farm field for a while to the point they had trails and such- all well and good until their parents had to pay for the lost grain. I guess kids, and some parents, just don't think.

Yes, especially when it comes to comparing joy riding to ones livelihood. Not a good thing.

Oh please.....don't even get me started on 4 wheelers! They're even worse!! They destroy hay and corn and fences etc. Like I said...don't get me started! I came one day a few years ago to find my entire back field of some 4 acres a mass of mud. Yup, 4 wheelers from up the road. Kids, two of whom I later found doing wheelies at 9 at night back there, aged 6 and 8. When I called their mother to ask how the hell she could let two babies out in the dark on a dangerous machine that weighed twice as much as the two of them together, she said monitored them by listening! I didn't, but should have, called Child Protective Services.
