On the other hand if you post was a plea for help in some sort of escape attempt, you will need to get your secret decoder ring and apply it to every third word of Dave's message.

OK, I'll try. First, you need to understand that threads on the Clipper forum often follow a sort of prescription. The first 5 or 6 responses to a serious topic are normally about the issues, with opinions offered, sometimes loudly. Next will come terse back and forth posts about Bobbbiez's "doopah" or Stoney's undergarments. Excuse me Dave. It's "DUPA" not doopah. ;D

Of course, there are forums where posters just stop posting when the topic is exhausted, but we here at Clipper's don't think such an abrupt cessation is very sociable and would rather just get silly. I'm sure we're not as silly as the OC budget is going to be. Bet we won't be laughing all the way to the poor house and the silliest thing is that there is not a damn thing we can do about it but bitch.

ROFL. Gee Dave I think you have a very accurate and firm grasp on the way things unfold here on Clipper's Corner. Of course that is only natural, since you have been here from the beginning and have contributed greatly to building and moderating the forum from the "get go". It is a strange, but interesting place to come to. We DO address the serious side of issues, but for some reason (probably the ongoing prodding and sparring between Bobbbiez, Stoney, and myself) we tend to wander and go off on tangents.
The good thing about it is that if someone cares to bring us back on track, they can do so with a simple post that gets back to the subject at hand. If not, the thread just lapses into fun and games.
When we discuss serious issues and political points, we normally are able to stay on subject long enough for anyone that cares to comment to have their chance to bring their point of view to the forum. When we run out of legitimate points of discussion pertaining to the subject at hand, we seem to go downhill from there. haha.
Amazingly the forum seems to survive and thrive on the type of atmosphere that folks find here. I think we have lost many more members to hotly disputed political arguments, many times through my own anger and hard headed opinions, than we have to our foolish side.
When I look at our member list, I find that very few have deleted their account or left us. A few have simply stopped posting, and of those that have stopped posting, many still pop in now and then when they find a thread that interests them.
My wish is that those that stop posting and participating would send me a PM and tell me what it is about the forum that has turned them off. That would give us information to use to improve the experience here. Whether we would act on every suggestion is doubtful, but we could glean useful info that we COULD use to improve our format and direction.
I have to say that the forum seems to have been extremely successful so far. There have been very few problems with members and we all seem to get along fairly well most of the time. Our membership has climbed steadily since the beginning, and the latest influx of musicians and participation in the BeBop thread is amazing and encouraging. We welcome ALL of those of you who have become members simply to follow that thread. I just hope that we have not lost Jon Hynes somewhere along the line. I attribute the success and the longevity of the thread to his avid and sincere participation largely to his dedication and contributions.
In the mean time I encourage those new members to jump around the forum and contribute and take part in other discussions. Hopefully we will survive for a long long time.
I especially want to thank those of you who post new threads for discussion and who put up links to media articles, etc, for us to discuss and think about. Our diversified membership makes this a place where education and insight into the views of others thrives.
The forum seems to have developed a personality all it's own, with the blend of politics, serious discussion and also the humor and sparring when we run out of serious contributions to the subject at hand. It seems to work, as our numbers simply keep climbing slowly and have never gone the other way so far. Hopefully the Clipper's Busy Corner family will continue to evolve and grow, and the forum will not fail any time in the near future.
JT, if that beautiful wife of yours tries to freeze you out, buy her a surplus space suit with a built in AC, and if she starts to lean a little too far to the left, just grab a short piece of two by four and some shims to prop her back up, ROFL. She is one of the cornerstones that keeps this place alive and active with her liberal political views.

Aw, thank you Clippy!!
This forum is no different than any other I've been on, & I've been on a lot. A thread will start with a topic, & by the 6th post or so the topic has changed. It's just human nature; conversations in "real life" usually end up doing the exact same thing.
If one tries to micro-manage a forum in an attempt to keep everyone "on topic", folks would get pissed off & end up leaving the board.

Oops, sorry I missed my cue. It may be time to bring back one of our favorite political quotes from last year, "We have to find new ways of taxing people." It could be worse. Nassau County Staring At Possible ‘Toilet Tax’ newyork.cbslocal.com/2010/10/15/nassau-county-staring-at-possible-toilet-tax/There are some repercussions to cutting back on heating and air conditioning costs in an office enviornment, electronics, particularly computers, are not as tolerant to working in temperature extremes as people are. I would not want to power down a computer (or even let it go to hibernate mode) in 60 degree or lower temps (pretend I inserted the parenthetical boring technical details here). At high temps they also tend to be unresponsive or crash prone. Not to say that it can't be done. When I ran a shipping dock, no attempt was made at temperature control, it would have been pointless. We managed. There was a problem in winter, however. I could never find a pair of gloves that would keep my hands smooth and blister free while operating a pallet jack and at the same time allow sufficient dexterity to make computer entries. (I left the computer running from Oct 1st to May 1st.) By the way, when I was using a pallet jack on a regular basis my abs were harder than at any other time of my life including basic training. Do you think we could sell them on that basis with a late nite TV infomercial?

Maybe we can be partners Clarence. We can do both sales AND installation. We can sell them a pallet jack and then for an additional fee we can furnish a 2000 pound pallet and install a concrete pad for them to take laps around on a daily basis. Sounds like a real money maker to me.
It would not be long before every garage or yard sale had a pallet jack sitting right next to the stationary bike for about $10, LOL.
"I inherited a sewer district authority that’s $28 million out of balance. Nowhere else in New York state do not-for-profits get a free ride,” County Executive Ed Mangano said."
Am I mistaken, or are not MOST non profits tax exempt?

No need to erase. Doesn't your computer have a scroll feature?
Sad fact that you don't seem to comprehend, is that my ""book" simply is expressing appreciation to those who participate. Even YOU my little pain in the ass, hahaha. If I am not mistaken, it falls under the rights and duties of the forum administrator. Gratitude is not a bad thing where I come from, and the forum doesn't charge by the line or typed word.
It is easy to wander to book size when you type almost as fast as you think I guess.
I think that when Ralph developed the rules, he left out the rule that restricted the size or length of a post on purpose. If you are too busy to read, simply skip the long posts and read just the bullet statements and shorties.

Not touchy, just stating the fact that while you bitch about my lengthy posts, you can simply skip them if it bothers you to read. Maybe you need new glasses if the long posts give you a headache, LOL. Hmmm. Does the headache equal the pain level that you inflict on my Dupa??? ROFL Its kinda like having sand in my shorts, LOL.
