Another one bites the dust. He is going to try to slide away unscathed, but he will most likely be remembered in the end as just one more of the country's governors that slid into the sunset under the shadow of a major scandal. Now it is only a question of where to categorize him. We have gays, whoremasters, gay whoremasters, influence peddlers that sell senate seats and end up on reality shows on the networks. Hmmm. Where does a former governor that condones and tries to cover domestic violence fit into the hall of shame? If the investigation proves him guilty as charged, I guess we will find out in time.

As in the usual dirty politics sounds to me they had to find a way to get him out and scraped the bottom of the barrel to find something to force him out. Nothing new. Can't wait to see whose dumb enough to want the job and what they will do with it.

Well, don't forget the White House and party bigwigs didn't want him to run, and told him so. Either they were afraid Paterson would embarrass them or he would lose to an overwhelming Republican candidate (?) and take other Democrats with him. Paterson persisted, but is now getting off the train. Interesting, since I don't see why he could not have survived this scandal. What he could probably not survive was the withdrawal of national party funds from his war chest. Surviving a scandal is not as difficult as trying to raise money during one.

cuomo is as crooked or worse than his old man and Lazio another New Yoker looking for a hobby time to end political dynasties and looking at holding office as a full time job!

You have to read up on Lazio. He has some different ideas about the way government should be run, including a proposal that we scrap the constitution and rewrite it to include only one legislative body and blah blah blah. His ideas are a little over the top for the mainstream voter to ever vote for him. Just google his name and read.
He is also a former congressman from Long Island, and I would not want Long Island running the state. I guess I tend to be a little prejudiced when it comes to the "economic engine" of NY state. It seems that upstate does an awful lot of paying and the city does most of the spending.

Since Lazio lost the US Senate to Hillary, I think he has proved himself not very popular off Long Island. Some said he lost the election because he was from LI.

The idea of a unicameral legislature is not really that radical. Nebraska has been governed under that system since at least as long ago as when I took civics in 7th grade. Of course one could argue that the Nebraska legislature provides it’s citizens with less than half the entertainment value of the New York legislature.
The compromise in the US constitution which provided for a Senate based on geography and a House based on population is part of the systems of checks and balances around which the document is based. The Supreme Court ruling which required both houses of state legislatures to use population based districts provides us with what reason for a bicameral legislature?
I don’t know of any city or county with a 2 house legislative body. I’ve never heard anyone suggest that Oneida County would be better served by having a Senate & House rather than a single body legislature.
From my perspective does it make any difference if we are run by Long Island or NY City or anywhere else south of Albany? I can’t think of any choice offered that wouldn’t make upstate continue to feel that it is a colony of downstate.

I loved Cuomo, & I believe his son has many of his qualities. (I have Mario's picture on my refrigerator when I shook his hand. )

Did you immediately check and make sure you still had your rings after shaking his hand? He certainly was eloquent, and he had a lot of interesting ideas. Now, his son is another matter. His father may be the only thing in Andrew's gas tank. He is certainly not impressive. When I've heard him speak, he sounds to me like a hood. He would have made a great character on the Sopranos. Some would say playing himself.

I wish Mario had run for president way back when (I can't remember which year it was when he gave that speech).
