He's a strong fiscal conservative who has taken on the career politicians from day one. His record can't be disputed. But if we want to continue returning career politicians that do nothing more than work to climb the ladder and never take a stance on anything, Griffo's your guy. 4 years in the legislature, 12 as Mayor of Rome, 4 as County Executive and 4 as State Senator. That's 24 years in office. You tell me what he has done that has made this area better. Just remember, it was Griffo that stood with those two ethically challenged Senators from NYC (Monserette and Espada) and created the disgusting deadlock. Griffo even voted to make Espada the Majority Leader.
Hennessy may be rough around the edges but he is definitely independent and that's why they hate him so much. But he's exactly what we need in a representative.

Career politicians that do nothing more than work to climb the ladder...
Isn't that what hennessey is trying to do? Go from county legislator to county exec or state senator?
Griffo went from mayor to county exec to state senator.
Picente went from a life in politics behind the scenes to county executive.
Meir went from county exec to state senator.
Ralph Eanace went from county exec to city court judge.
Sounds like henessey would be no different, if successful.
My dislike for hennessy is his lack of factual support and blatant lies about certain issues. His intentional refusal to address certain issues factually is disgusting and typical of a career politician. If he was independent, truly independent, and capable of independent thought to generate creative solutions, I might buy your support for him. But he's just another continuation of the status quo, regardless where he ends up in the political grand scheme.
He, as well as any other politician currently running the show for more than one term is NOT what we need.

And can we please STOP the bashing of Republicans and blamming them for everything? Who wasted time filing a lawsuit and refused to sit in session? DEMOCRATS!
I'm tired of the blame game, and thought you were better than that, Larry. When will people begin to realize that BOTH parties are EQUALLY at fault for our current situation?! I said it before, and I guess I'll keep repeating it until someone besides me realizes:
The ONLY difference between a Republican and a Democrat is the party name!

My statement had nothing to do with parties. If anything, it was a blast at the two NYC Democrats that made that move to take power. The problem is that Griffo stood with them and voted one is as Majority Leader. The Democrats are no different, they voted Espada as Majority Leader as soon as he came back over. They're both disgusting. I'm just pointing out Griffo standing with them and taking part in it because HE is our Senator and the topic of discussion. This was not a bash at Republicans. And I think you know I'm not a partisan man. It was me that just blasted the local Democrats and resigned from the county committe. It is me that is trying to start a Democrats for Hanna movement. It was me that proposed that the county do away with partisan elections.

Picente should be run out of office for what he did to the residents of O.C. in regards to the sewer repairs. He signed off on the consent order with no input from anyone, did not seek a compromise with the state, nor did he negotiate a better deal for the taxpayers. The result? Residents of this county are now on the hook for over $150 million dollars in sewer repairs with no way to pay for it besides a hike in user fees. It's a disgrace.

You're endorsing Hanna, Larry? But you were an Arcuri supporter. I'm confused. I thought you were a die-hard democrat.

But all too often, I read your comments in the OD or here or on your blog and it is clearly a slant toward democrats over republicans in a manner that ignores the obvious. Hennessey is no different than griffo, a career politician. Yet you just said you support Hennessey and in an effort to justify it, ripped into griffo for the stalemate the occurred at the state level. My point is that both parties, and ALL incumbents are at fault and should not be supported.

I remember during one Legislature meeting you said "They (republican legislators) can't help it; they were born with a silver foot in their mouths". Lol!

I hope he gave proper attribution to Ann Richards. Her candidate lost but that was a great line. I think that speech did as much as anything to paving her way to the election as governor.

Well, I am a Democrat. But I am far from a very partisan person. Unfortunately, we live in a two party system. As long as we do, I am more aligned with the Democratic Party, even know I have major differences with the current Democratic direction. I consider myself more of a Jefferson Democrat.
Stoney, I loved that line! LOL. I did say I was quoting Ann Richards, lol. Swimmy, in Oneida County I have certainly been bashing the GOP hard core. It is the GOP that has held complete control of the legislature and executive branches forever. They deserve the ridicule. But if you read my blog or statements, I have been just as critical of the Democrats on the city level. So, you're right, it's both parties fault. I think I've done a decent job of pointing that out.

BTW - I have never pulled the lever for Mike Arcuri in my life. I was at Hanna's election night party in 2008 at the Hotel Utica. That's why Arcuri and Roefaro and Co. wanted me out of office so bad.
