President Obama's Secret: Only 100 al-Qaeda Now in AfghanistanWith New Surge, One Thousand U.S. Soldiers and $300 Million for Every Taliban FighterAs he justified sending 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan at a cost of $30 billion a year, President Barack Obama's description Tuesday of the al-Qaeda "cancer" in that country left out one key fact: U.S. intelligence officials have concluded there are only about 100 al-Qaeda fighters in the entire country. A senior U.S. intelligence official told ABCNews.com the approximate estimate of 100 al-Qaeda members left in Afghanistan reflects the conclusion of American intelligence agencies and the Defense Department. The relatively small number was part of the intelligence passed on to the White House as President Obama conducted his deliberations. President Obama made only a vague reference to the size of the al-Qaeda presence in his speech at West Point, when he said, "al-Qaeda has not reemerged in Afghanistan in the same number as before 9/11, but they retain their safe havens along the border." A spokesperson at the White House's National Security Council, Chris Hensman, said he could not comment on intelligence matters. (Sorry, I forgot to get the reference for the above. But I copied the article from ABC News.) Hell .... Ralph and I (he's a better shot) would be willing to take the $30 Billion over there, give each Taliban his $300 Million, and keep only a small fee of 10 percent for ourselves.

Oh Hell! Clear out our troops and set up a big old fashioned al-Qaeda BBQ.
Then drop enough nukes in the center of the whole event to make a hundred square mile area into a sea of green glass and the problem is solved.
Say "Thank You" Washington.
Feed the Ralph. ;D

Seriously………….I have never delved into the country of Afghanistan, but it seems that either the landscape is not suitable for the lowliest of mountain goats (and eats Mils for breakfast) or is only good for growing opium poppies.
So why not just level the place?
I mean, who we gonna piss off besides a few al-Qaeda and a couple million heroin addicts?

Or we can leave all of them to eventually kill each other off.

There might only be about 100 al-Qaeda members (which I do question) left in Afghanistan's borders. I ain't no war-General but I can see where the one's in know would want our troops going in force so al-Qaeda doesn't regain the strength our presence has dwindled down. Pulling out doesn't seem to be the answer for most. As far as any other methods, we have to remember there are innocent people in Afghanistan who have endured now and in the past so much devastation in their lives and in their country, so why add more harm to the innocent.

Soooooooooooo Corner, what would you suggest the USA do? Pull out and abandon a country who does not want the al-Qaeda there and who are fighting against them with our help.? Afghanistan is our alli and if anyone thinks we shouldn't be there, then we shouldn't be in Israel either. I believe if we're going to protect our interest there then we should protect all in the same.

i'm one of those who believe we are in the mess we are in because of our blind allegience to Israel ! they have cost us billions of dollars and thousands of lives our only interest in the middle east is oil,, as far as i can see the israelis are just another arab faction the only difference is they have sand and no oil...look at the make up of the senate and congress do a last name check and you can get the picture why we have a "friendship" with israel,,, friendships by the way are usually 2 sided and our "friends" shouldnt be spying on us either>

Well Corner, you and I do click big time on Israel. I fully agree with you in all you stated, but did take it one step further by defending the people of Afghanistan. I will continue to state, if we don't help Afghanistan then we don't help Israel.

amen we should get the hell out of the area entirely they have been fighting eachother for 10,000 years and it aint gonna change in our great grandchildrens lifetime i 'm a big fan of going isolationist and stop being the worlds police department...the israelis can handle themselves and have proven to be a lot better at fighting terrorists than we are...at least their actions are surgical and not global..

I assume we're there to protect our oil supply. All of the decision on who to help, who to fight ... all the rhetoric about friendship and allies and all that b.s. is premised on the one fact that without their oil our nation would fall apart. Beyond that single fact, all is political theater.

Yepper Dave, exactly what I was leading up to and Corner has completed it. If we help one we help the other. If we don't want to do that, then we get all our a**es out of the whole damn country, PERIOD!. As far as the oil, we've spent some much $$$$$ on defending and aiding Israel that by now our government could have used that cash to find our own oil resources right here at home. If we concentrated on that, then we could say, "fu*k y'all!" Catch y'all later. Am off to another grandson's hockey game. Damn it's freaking cold in those ice rink!

How to stay warm at the ice rink: 1. From your summer, fall and winter wardrobes, choose every single item of apparel and dress up till you look like a ball of yarn with a face on top. 2. Buy hot popcorn and sit on it. 3. At the rink sit real close to that special someone; if you're un-escorted, ask the person on your right and your left to marry you. 4. Stuff handwarmers down the front of your shorts.
