A murder at the prison on Saturday. Apparently it was done with a knife. I wonder if this is gang related or an attack on a child molester?

Might be neither, Concerned. Might just be one person that pissed off another person, LOL. Might be a cell mate that didn't change the roll of toilet paper, or that snored, or made a sexual advance. Life is a bitch when you live with people that have nothing to lose, haha. I bet the perp used a knife because he was unable to buy a tommy gun at the commissary LOL . I toured Greenhaven Prison years ago with a criminal justice class, while I was working for Central NY Coach Lines. I was amazed at the display of "stabbing or slashing" weapons that were fabricated from all sorts of everyday items. I have sympathy for the victims family, but I also see one less mouth for tax dollars to feed. (Oops, did I say that?)

The big problem is that they don't live in cells behind bars but they live in dormotory fashon.

Oh hell, dormitory fashion? All the more condusive to group sex, and the faster spread of HIV. It may be the answer to prison overcrowding.
Dormitories huh? Sure would not want to have to walk into a dormitory setting to quell a disturbance unless I was well armed with pepper spray and was wearing body armor. I guess that is specifically what those "CERT" teams do huh? I guess I was under the impression that they were in two man cells. I have been on the grounds before when inmates were transported on chartered coaches, but I have never been inside the buildings.

Over crowding brings dorms. Don't like to see any life wasted but putting oneself in prison population can only ensure one might become a target. That alone is the decision of the one who attacks society in any way. I will pray for the inmates soul and my sympathy goes out to the inmate's family. In most cases, it is the family that is given the longest sentence and has to suffer for another family member who chose to take the wrong path.

I should not be so crass. When I drank, it is a miracle that I did not end up in some sort of trouble. I was constantly fighting, and hurt more than one person over the years. One bad blow and I could have been a murderer or crippled someone by being the tough guy in the bar.
It is also only by the grace of God that my youngest son found his way to rehab before he got into trouble. When he was doing his drugs, he was only steps away from a prison sentence and didn't even realize it or care. Thank you God.
I apologize for the unfeeling comments about the victim and the crime. it is not a joking matter.

Clipper, you ain't alone. We've all been guilty of that when it comes to those who have committed crimes. It's human nature to react in such a way. Just have to remind ourselves once in a while that all deserve our prayers and that there are those who have to suffer for the actions of others.

I work in a state facility here in the area for NYS inmates. Just my 2 cents, most of these degenerates deserve NOOOOO sympathy. As for the guy that murdered another inmate on OCF, he's a murderer, simple and plain. Degenerate scum. No doubt about it. Oneida Correctional facility is a medium security prison. There are no max jails here in the Oneida hub of 4 jails, Marcy, Midstate, Oneida and Mohawk. The only maximum security facility is Central New York Psychiatric Center where they hold inmates from all NYS prisons. Because Oneida is a medium security jail I can only assume that the murder was either gang related or an attack on a sex offender. I don't know for sure because I'm not at that facility but experience allows me to assume reasonably.
Never the less, these people are not in jail for cheating on their SAT's, they deserve to be there for the most part. Oh the stories I could tell of scum whom have committed such heinous crimes you would think that it was made up and completely not true, that someone could not do such a thing. Once I asked an inmate, "What do you regret about your crime?" his reply was "I ran out of garbage bags before body parts." Hmmmm somehow the word sympathy does not come to mind.

Not giving sympathy to the inmate but will pray for his soul. My sympathy does go out to his family. It always astound me when a victim's family either forgave or ask for God to forgive the one who caused them so much pain, until, my family became victims of a crime that took two lives of our family members. Forgiveness, not at this time, but will pray for the soul of the ones who caused us so much pain. Just learned by keeping the anger and looking for revenge the pain became much harder to deal with and there was no healing. Our lives were kept at a halt. Through prayer and praying for the souls of those who caused us so much pain we are healing and able to go on and live our lives with some peace. I guess it boils down to everyone has their way of finding what's best for them in a situation that nothing can ever erase.

And to forgive the person who committed the crime... Well that makes you a better person than I. I cant say I could do that, but who knows.

And heres the rest of the story.............
It started over a game of Domino's, that's right Domino's, that ended in a fight with mop wringers and chairs and one dead man.
The survivor, already in for murder and doing 20 to life. So much for rehabilitation.
The survivor is now at Mid-State in a Max-Shu, locked in a cell 23 out of 24 hours a day.
You have to wonder why the State allows a convicted Murder in a Medium Prison. Oh well, with the Governors new budget cuts it's gong to get a lot worst!!!!!!

I always thought that those dominoes were a dangerous thing to allow in the prisons. And mop wringers? Geez, there must be a flow of illegal, unregistered mop wringers being snuck into the prisons under visitors skirts. Time for cavity searches on visiting day to make sure none of those girls have a mop wringer hidden away. It is unbelievable how these dirtbags can find something to use to harm each other. It is unbelievable that there is such an insane desire to kill each other. Hell, prison overcrowding could be cured by simply putting all these people in one open area, leaving them unsupervised for a few days, while they thinned their OWN ranks. No death penalty necessary. Just let murderers and rapists do what they do best, and simply feed the dwindling numbers as time goes on. Just open the door, throw them in and slam the door. Check every few days to see how many are in need of a state burial. What the hell, they all seem to think they are tough guys, so let them live by "survival of the fittest."
