My first and fondness memories I remember was when I was about five years old and when I spent the mornings with my Dad at his place of work. He was a foreman at the old Hart & Crouse Foundry located where Charlestown Mall use to be also. Dad had to go into work for a few hours on Saturday mornings to check on the furnaces and always took me with him. I use to play in the white sand pits they make their cores with while he made his runs. All Dad's workers always made sure they had their pockets filled with candy knowing I would be coming with their boss. They were the ones who gave me my nickname Bobbie. At noon we would all go to lunch together and they always told me I could come to because, "I was one of the boys." Did get tears in my eyes remembering those wonderful Saturdays with my Dad and his crew. Can't really remember exactly how old I was because I was a baby when my parents bought their first camp at Sylvan Beach, but do remember all the great summers we had there for so many years and all the wonderful people who had businesses at the beach. They always treated us so special. I remember my Mom sitting on the beach watching me and my three sisters swim while my Dad took his journey out on the rocks off the end of the pier and fished his heart out with all his buddies. I remember taking the walk to the end of the pier with my Mom to bring Dad his lunch. I remember ice skating on the lake while my Dad and his buddies enjoyed a day of ice fishing. Thanks Pops for teaching me how to bait my own hook.

You told me your first fond memory was rolling over in the baby ward in St. Lukes and seeing me two cribs over. (Bobbbiez and I lived together our first 3 days on earth. We think.)

Clipper, according to my Mom I was a very quiet baby. As I grew older I had a stuttering problem till my teens so I didn't want to talk much. Kids use to make fun of me so I kept quiet most of the time. In my teens I was given speech lessons at Children's Hospital and they were the ones who corrected my speech and created a monster. Now, I'm merely making up for lost time and "no one" can shut me up. ;D

James, all good sh*t to remember. I even forgot our family outings to Sunny Island. It was there that my Dad almost went to meet his maker. He went out too far fishing and got caught in the current which started to drag him under and away. Thank God three other fishermen were there and pulled Dad in. I remember when WKTV channel 2 was the only TV station this area had and went off the air at eleven playing our national anthem showing Air Force planes flying into the clouds. God, I remember when we didn't have TV and as a family we would listen to the radio programs every night after dinner. ;D Boy, we "have come a long way baby," with lots of great memories.

When Channel 2 was 13, and folks with a few spare bucks put up an antenna on the roof to get 2 more stations from Syracuse. I remember Kate Smith, Howdy Doody and Winky Dink on TV. Remember 15 minute shows? Hawkins Falls, some blonde woman singing songs, sponsored by Mohawk Carpets, accompanied by (I think) her husband, Skitch Henderson, who became famous later. Our High School Choir trooping up Smith Hill to WKTV late in the afternoon through a snow storm to sing Christmas Carols on televison. Friday night boxing on TV, later wrestling. The Friday night the OD and a reporter were featured on The Big Story.

One channel TV..........OMG. Amal and the Night Visitor year after year. I think that is why I hate opera to this day.
Time to wake up some brain cells here. I remember when I was about 5 yrs old. We lived in Little Falls then and my first (that I remember) and best friend was a girl named Jean. She lived in a huge house which at the time I didn't know it but it was a nursing home. I guess at 5 it felt like a mansion. We use to sneak in the back where there was a large storage shed. Inside was where they stored all kinds of fruits an vegetables by the bushels. We use to go in there and help ourselves to the nice juicy peaches and then would get chased out if caught by the staff. Around 2 in the afternoon she would get called in for her dance lessons. (she had her own dance studio right there..... and a giant wooden spot on the floor for tap dancing) My que usually to go home. Once I remember we had an argument (about what I have no idea...what do 5 yr olds argue about..toys) I told her I was not going to play with her anymore because I was moving away. Well later when I went home I found out from my parents we were moving. (Utica here I come) That was my first recollection of when I was young and my first recollection of saying something and then it happened.
Second time. ....I lived on Broad St. and use to cut through the yard that would bring me directly in front of church and school on Catherine St., Mt Carmel. In the house at the end of the path on Catherine that I cut through there lived an old man all by himself. He was a very kind old man. My friend Carol first introduced me. We would stop to visit and many times he sent us to the store and always gave us a nickle for our trouble. Well for a little kid back then that was big money and bought lots of candy. We got into the habit of knocking on the door to see if he needed anything. (Here I go again) Once my friend and I were mad for some reason and she went to knock on his door and no one answered. I happened to be there at the time and watching her and both of us waiting to see if he opened the door I told her he was not home. She asked my how I knew that and I told her cause he died. It just so happened that it was true. Lesson here ....don't ever get me mad. Those are my earliest collections of saying or feeling something and it happens. Many times more through my life. I just feel I can't explain it but it's like I just know it. Later when facts fall in to play then it is verified. Pretty spooky.
