I just read that the Amount of Houses being sold is on the rise as prices drop. And the stock market is doing well- I wonder how much of this "recession/depression" stuff is just fear mongering by a bunch of Democrats that want to be elected.
I find it hilarious when I read all those articles about the economy- all the authors seem that if America is not in the middle of a major Economic Boom times means that the US Economy is failing.

There is much to be said about talking ourselves into a recession.
By definition, a recession is two successive quarters (6 months) of negative growth in the American GNP. We haven't experienced one yet but we're due to get the most recent numbers next week.
If I recall, things didn't look this glum since 2000 and then 2004 during the last two presidential elections. The media, with a decided favoritism towards Democrat candidates, have been takling down the economy whenever it's time to vote for a new president. I think they may have started too soon this time. With the feds using the "kitchen sink" method of fighting the recession, we'll be well on the way to recovery by next fall. In fact, inflation might be the real problem by then because there's a good chance they may have already overcorrected.

Yes, but in 2000 we were in a recession, thanks to billy who let everything slide.
2004 for "recession" wasn't a recession when the unemployment rate dropped, and the stock market was running well.
The problem is that the democrats and the media have instilled so much hate for the current administration, I think it would literally kill them all if the President was credited with one positive thing. That's why the democrats are fighting so hard for defeat in Iraq. They'll die if Bush gets his victory.
