FOR SOME REASON THE CITY OF UTICA IS SELLING A BRAND NEW 8' Single Stage 170 HP Snow Blower. THIS ITEM COST THE CITY $85,000!!! That is ridiculous Hans. I lived at Trails End years ago, and they had one of those snowblowers. That thing was awesome, but not suited well for use in the city, unless it was to load trucks. The problem was most likely that it packed the snow into the dump trucks and was not of much use to the city. That machine will actually throw snow about 80-100 feet. I don't know about you, but I don't want them blowing back the banks in front of my house with it. One wrong move and they would toss a volkswagen through your picture window, LOL. What a waste of taxpayer money to auction this thing on ebay. The bid when I looked was only $13000. Sell an $85K machine for 15 or 20 grand? That would be damn near criminal. I would hope that it gets up to at least $70K+ or is not sold. How about trading it to another city or town, or even the county for something of equal value that can be used by the city???

I saw that. Jeez, what genius ordered the damn thing without having a need for it? Obviously the need was not critical, or it would not be sitting unused with ONE HOUR on it, in the city garage. I may need it here in Tennessee. We are shut down with ONE INCH of snow and "slippery roads". Nothing is moving, schools and businesses are closed or on delays. I went to the store to get milk this morning and drove 45mph both ways. People were driving 10 with their 4-ways on. Good heavens. My paper didn't come and when I called, they said it MIGHT come tomorrow if the "weather is better",LOL. Winter is an ongoing "comedy act" here in the south. Haha. I didn't notice, but was a minimum bid listed on Ebay Hans? If they sell that damn thing for some ridiculously low price, someone in city government should go to jail.

That thing would work great for you Dave. You could fire that baby up and deposit the snow somewhere in Northern New Jersey, with the power that thing has, LOL.

$60K ? I fold.
I doubt my financing plan would have work anyway. I was going to pay for it with the money I saved by not having it plowed. Would have had it payed off sometime before 2100 A.D.
(Now, I believe it's called CE, since we no longer believe in Domini.)

(Now, I believe it's called CE, since we no longer believe in Domini.) What you could do is use it to plow your driveway. And then offer the town to plow your street for a fair and marketable sum. :-) After a few years, you'd have that 60k paid off in no time!

Or I could park it at the New Hartford Shopping Cener and charge $1.00 each for kids to sit in it. I'd paint it silver and say it is a tiny space station, soon to be launched by the Town of New Hartford as a business development opportunity. Its limited seating holds only one person, so as to prevent arguments in space.
