Hey, Kids !! (Oops, I mean old folks)It's raining money again!!Senate panel proposes $300 bonus for seniorsWASHINGTON—Senior citizens receiving Social Security would get a bonus payment of $300 under the Senate version of President Barack Obama's economic recovery plan. The $820 billion Senate measure includes tax cuts and spending proposals prepared by the Senate's two most powerful committees on Friday. Excuse me? That's all us po' folks get of the $820 Billion TARP? Executives of failed banks are getting millions in bonuses for their superb work of turning our investments into rubbish, and we retirees now get 300 f**king bucks? The bonus for seniors is but one chapter in the Senate proposal. There's also a temporary two-year $500 tax cut for most workers and $1,000 for couples, a $2,500 tax credit to help pay for college, tax cuts for businesses and to promote renewable energy, and $87 billion worth of help to states struggling with their 2009-2010 budgets for the Medicaid health care program for the poor and disabled. Pretty soon, that'll be all of us.Some programs, such as almost $1 billion to combat bird flu, are likely to attract ridicule from Republicans and budget hawks for doing little if anything to create jobs. But that won't stop the gravy train.www.boston.com/news/nation/washington/articles/2009/01/23/senate_panel_proposes_300_bonus_for_seniors_1232743527/

finance.yahoo.com/taxes/article/106140/Taxpayers-Get-Second-Chance-at-Stimulus"Huge amounts of money are involved. About $10 billion will be distributed next year in rebate credits, says Treasury Department spokesman Andrew DeSouza. The Treasury won't send out separate economic-stimulus payments, as it did this year. Instead, those eligible will claim the rebate credit on their 2008 returns. That will affect how much of a refund they'll get or how much they'll owe Uncle Sam."

Thanks Dave, but I might have missed it but how are we seniors suppose to receive that "BIG" check? Will it be in our monthly checks or do we have to file this year to receive it. My brain is a little slow these last few days from the pills I have to take so I'm sorry I'm stoning ya and have to have it written out for me to understand.

This may help explain
Sometime this year, taxpayers will receive an Economic Stimulus Payment. This is a very exciting new program that I will explain using the Q and A format:
"Q. What is an Economic Stimulus Payment? "A. It is money that the federal government will send to taxpayers.
"Q. Where will the government get this money? "A. From taxpayers.
"Q. So the government is giving me back my own money? "A. No, they are borrowing it from China. Your children are expected to repay the Chinese.
"Q. What is the purpose of this payment? "A. The plan is that you will use the money to purchase a high-definition TV set, thus stimulating the economy.
"Q. But isn't that stimulating the economy of China? "A. Shut up."
Below is some helpful advice on how to best help the US economy by spending your stimulus check wisely:
If you spend that money at Wal-Mart, all the money will go to China.
If you spend it on gasoline it will go to Hugo Chavez, the Arabs and Al Qaeda
If you purchase a computer it will go to Taiwan.
If you purchase fruit and vegetables it will go to Mexico, Honduras, and Guatemala (unless you buy organic).
If you buy a car it will go to Germany, Japan and Korea.
If you purchase prescription drugs it will go to India
If you purchase heroin it will go to the Taliban in Afghanistan
If you give it to a charitable cause, it will go to Nigeria.
And none of it will help the American economy.
We need to keep that money here in America. You can keep the money in America by spending it at yard sales, going to a baseball game, or spend it on prostitutes, domestic beer, or tattoos, since those are the only businesses still in the US.
