I have always had a problem with making my tax dollars work for me.
They should be working for me/you/us without having to make them at every damn turn of the road.

hmmm.....sidewalks need shoveling? That sounds like a good job for that ever-present bird found flocking in both Utica and Rome: the Ablebodied Welfare Sucker.

We drove through the Busy Corner area this past Sunday morning, and I was surprised by the dirty snow banks almost blocking the sidewalks and the right-hand traffic lane. Looked like World War 2 era preparations for an invasion, where dirt piles protected one from bullets and shrapnel. So, who is invading?

Why is everything painted black and gold in downtown Utica. It's a color scheme loved by undertakers everywhere. Sadly, it's all too appropriate for Utica.

Snow shoveling-what the hell is the problem with that? Could never understand why people just don't do it. I guess "LAZY" is the appropriate word to describe why the sidewalks are not cleared. I have a mighty long driveway and plenty of sidewalks in front of my property. I don't have a problem keeping them cleared. If I become unable (like with my foot now) I hire someone else to do them. Even when I use to rent, I always helped to keep them shoveled. People just have to get back to the old ways and just do them and help those who really can't. The post office can also help in that area. I remember the days if you didn't shovel your area, you didn't get your mail. Especially necessary, if you're waiting for your welfare check, ;D, but in the welfare recipient's defense, it's not just them who are not shoveling. I've seen plenty of businesses, absentee landlords, and plenty of private homeowners who do not shovel. It's all bullsh*t! If I can do it so can they. Everyone should take care of business in the shoveling area.

It just amazes me that the same politicians all complain about and bitch about from the national level down to the local levels are always re-elected. Funny, but after a politician screws up I can't find one person who actually voted for them. That tells me most who do the bitching, do not want "changes." I echo those remarks!
