I have heard just about everything but this really takes the cake. A couple is suing United Airlines because the man suing was served on the plane, got drunk and he ended up getting arrested for disorderly conduct and battery. The battery was on his wife that he punch six times. They are claiming it all happened because the stewardess served him too many drinks and the Airline is responsible for his behavior. My God, what is this world coming to? It is a sue-happy world and what really pi**es me off, people like this idiot will probably get a settlement. Just as that dumb-a** woman did against McD's for the hot coffee the dumb-a** spilled on herself. Maybe this guy's wife should get a few more punches from me. Then maybe it'll shake her up to what an a**hole she married.

If someone goes to a bar & gets drunk, then gets into his or her vehicle & is involved in an accident that either kills or maims someone the bar can be held liable under Dram Shop laws. What's the difference? I'm not excusing what the guy did, but the stewardess continue to serve the guy, so the airline is liable. That's the law.

Yeah, and the drinking caused him to punch his wife six times to. Bet that ain't the first time he's punched her and it won't be the last even if they win the suit. Give me a freakin break!

Ya know what really is sad about this whole situation? Win or lose, all the airlines will stop offering alcoholic beverages in flight. Don't know about anyone else but when I travel by air, I do enjoy a few drinks and normally I am not a drinker. Now we all will have to suffer because of this idiot and his idiotic wife.

Corner, don't know if that is right or fair to the people who just enjoy (like myself) a few cocktails to relax on a long flight. There are flights I'm in the air for over 13 hours and it does help to enjoy a FEW. Don't think I should have to give up my enjoyment for a few stupid people. Have to say, I've taken many flights in my years and never have I witnessed any kind of problem when it came to someone drinking. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but for a few, you want to take it away from all. Not fair!

Not wanting to get off the topic, but I did state I thought I heard it all, and I just now heard another. Welker, a wide receiver for the Patriots just received an unsportsman-like penalty FOR MAKING A SNOW ANGEL after a touch down. What is this world coming to? lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just thought I'd share it with y'all. We all need a good laugh here and there and this one did bring it on for me. ;D

Well, if I have to be subjected to some drunken moron when flying because he or she enjoys it, then I should be able to have a cigar during flight. Which I enjoy. And why should children have to be subjected to the behavior of some obnoxious drunk just because it supposedly helps them to relax? Anyone that can't fly without downing a few has a problem.

trouble is too many wackos flying as it is and alchohol only adds to the problem ive been on international flights and domestic where folks have gotten unruly its transportation not a bar people can get screwed up after their flight if they so choose at the cost of tickets i shouldnt be subjected to anyones vices most social drinkers really dont know their limits no matter how much they argue that they do.

Geez guys, there are some people, myself included, who do take an occasional drink and don't want or need another. You make it sound like everyone who would like a drink while relaxing is an alcoholic and that just isn't true. I am not a drinker or did I EVER have a drinking problem but I will have one on occasion. Anyone that knows me will tell you I am a social drinker and do not and never had a problem. Being a former bartender, I can attest to the fact, for every drunk, you had a lot more that just enjoyed one or two drinks for the evening. There are plenty of people who look at drinking the same as I do, in moderation. Get this to guys. Was a bartender who NEVER drink when I was working and all my former bosses will testify to just that. I'm a smoker also and do not complain about and comply with the "no smoking" wherever. I will not compare it with a responsible person who would like the privilege of having a beverage on an airplane. What's next in this sue-happy world? Wanna talk about children on an airplane!!!!!! I've taken many a flight where I was sitting near some pretty damn unruly, spoiled little brats. They disturbed me and all the other passengers on the plane. Now, because of those incidents, should we ban all children from flying? Keep it real guys.

yes to banning kids and see as a social drinker you really dont need a drink on the plane personally i prefer benedryl as the flying wreaks havoc with my ears and drinking at high altitudes causes intoxication faster with less alchohol by the way

Chewing gum is more effective then Benadryl or drinking, I mean shallowing. lol!!!!!!!!! Hey, maybe if they banned the kids neither of us would mind flying without other relaxing substances. ;D

Just to chime in here, I've flown quite a bit both for work and pleasure. I don't ever remember having a drink myself, but I also wouldn't want to tell someone that they couldn't partake of a legal activity because it inconviences me. I fall firmly on the side of allowing the responsible people to continue being responsible and to punish the idiots to the fullest extent of the law. Same as guns, driving, smoking, ect, ect, ect..........

When I flew on business, I remember drink limits on (at least) domestic flights. Like 2 drinks max between here and Philly. If the airline still has that policy, and broke it in the case of the man suing them, that would make his case stronger. Probably half the civil law in the US comes from what were considered outlandish cases when first brought to court.
