those people down there are so ignorant that they have to pay $8 just to cross a bridge, . Hahahahaha! Pete, you should have a little more empathy. Your politicians would do it to you in a heartbeat, if they thought they could get away with it. But I agree with you in wondering about the sanity of people in the NY metropolitan area. They think it's great! Expense, traffic and all. Makes you wonder why they stay there. But I'm sure people in Wisconsin think the same of anyone who lives anywhere in New York State.

Does anyone really care what Ackerman thinks about Utica? I sure as hell don't! I just thank God, he doesn't live here.

Now, wait a minute. What was the rest of the quote?
"...and that's a qualification for the job."
Newcomers to this area are CONSTANTLY snubbed when they try to do things or bring about anything even vaguely resembling 'change' or 'something new' in this area. I think the guy's remark is very truthful.
"(S)He's not from around here.....nobody could understand our needs....." . He's got a point.

Well when we elected the carpet bagger we had a choice between her and the young, wise guy, Long Island candidate that that was an obvious puppet of the Downstate political machine. Here we go again. Don't bet on your next senator being from Barnes Corners or Trenton Falls folks, unless some downstate pol has a secret summer residence there.

The Barnes Corners Hotel! What a great restaurant that was. More like a boarding house, but still terrific. But we should take it to the Old Restaurants thread.
