I'm a big fan of the Sabres, too. Never been a HUGE fan of Hockey but I like the Sabres. I'm a Baseball and Football fan (Yankees and Dolphins).
The OD did cover the story, but they never mentioned the fact that I was the only legislator opposed to it, or that several members of the city council, including the Majority Leader, were opposed to it. The article also came AFTER the Rome Sentinel's article which better portrayed the story. They also wrote today about the airport and FAILED again to point our that I am the ONLY one that has voted NO to virtually every pennie and contact up there.
Don't want to sound like I am starving for attention (which I guess it does sound that way). But I do think the media, or a real journalist, has a duty to report both sides to every story (including any opposition) and not just serve as another arm of the propoganda machine.

Larry, it's no wonder why Utica is always heading downhill. Sorry, but our legislators always take one step forward and then two back. Here they are cutting a department that has made a lot of progress just in this last year under the new codes director, and now they want to cut their budget when they are already working on a very low staff. Under his direction many properties that have been a danger and eye sore in our neighborhoods are finally being addressed and cleaned up. He has gottened laws that have been on the books for years enforced finally and has forced absentee landlords to take care of their properties that have been decaying in our neighborhoods for years. I'm sorry, but why cut a department that is definitely doing a great job and set the city back on a downward track again. Makes no sense what so ever to me. I'm beginning to wonder if any of our legislators know what the hell they're doing.

I agree Bobbie. That's exactly why I voted no to this and tried my hardest to get others to do the same. I'm also extremely disappointed in our Mayor's response, or lack thereof. They all like to point fingers at the state or feds, but then they come home and do the same thing here. Roefaro should be outraged at the county for this. Sometimes I wonder if our city representatives even care about the city they represent (with exception of a few). This is why I get so frustrated.
