Syrian ire follows apparent US raid across Iraq's borderDamascus lashed out at Washington over charges that American forces killed at least eight civilians when US helicopters were on a mission to shut down insurgent 'rat lines.' www.csmonitor.com/2008/1027/p99s01-duts.htmlWould these be "civilians" with guns and explosives strapped to their chests?

Elsewhere, I read that Syria summoned the US charge de' affairs and delivered the following statement: "Syria condemns this aggression and holds the American forces responsible for this aggression and all its repercussions." So sue us. I wonder if Obama will order such incursions when he becomes CIC. I see the Marines have begun deploying the new V-22 Osprey in combat operations in western Iraq recently. I wonder if they were involved in this raid?

Analysis: Syria raid suggests new US stanceBy PAMELA HESS – 3 hours ago WASHINGTON (AP) — Bold U.S. raids into Pakistan and Syria show the stark choice the Bush administration is putting to both friends and adversaries in its final weeks: Clamp down on militants and terrorists or we'll do it for you.ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5g-DU03_7uREXjwO1-MXrVvOYv9VQD9434E180

I wouldn't want to be flying in one of those portable coffins, they seem to like to fall out of the sky for no apparent reason.
I thinks these raids show not so much the want to go after people we have been searching for, but the total disregard for other nations rights when it comes to what we want.
I am sure this will come back to bite us in the ass in the near future.

Frank, I don't think it's fair to say "no apparent reason" at least if you will conceed flawed concept as a reason. I don't object to weapons systems that push the envelope, but at some point someone has to say "This doesn't work", pull the plug and try something else.
