Palin Deserves Our RespectHelen McCaffrey is the director of Women's Watch Inc., a nonprofit women's advocacy group based in Cape May. " I cannot predict who will win the presidential campaign, but I already know who will lose big: all women.
I realized this when I saw a 20-something male student who attends a class in the community college where I teach, wearing a T-shirt that read, "Sarah Palin is a C-." He wore it in public, in broad daylight, and without shame or even consciousness of what he was doing.
I took the time to advise him of the "error of his ways" and informed him of the consequences if he wore it to my class.
This encounter shook me right down to my socks."And so will the other examples given in the article. I lay the blame for this kind of stuff directly on the heads of the media elite.www.philly.com/inquirer/currents/20081026_Palin_deserves_our_respect.html###

She doesn't have any missiles, nor does she have the capacity to command any, read closer. The National Guard is part of the US Army and not anywhere near under her command. Quite similar to the New York Guard in comparison to the NG
From Wiki: "Alaska also maintains a state militia, the Alaska State Defense Force (ASDF). This force is federally recognized, but is separate from the National Guard and reports to the Governor of Alaska as Commander-in-Chief."

Dave, I didn't read your link until today. (I spent most of last evening hanging out at urgent care. The sign's said "No use of cell phones beyond this point." Do you think a lap top with a wireless connection would count?) Wow, I thought there were some mean spirited writings on Topix until I read those comments.
Can anyone come up with an analog for "inarticulate" to apply to the written word? "Illiterate" is not quite right.
Frank, Alaska has it's own militia and Gov. Palin is the CiC. Thanks, my new bit of data for the day

When communications is cut off with Washington by a drunken oil worker driving his humvee over a fiber optic cable, Governor Amanda Whalen decides this is the right time to declare Alaskan independence and aim her missiles at Toldeo. She knows there will be hell to pay some day in the future for this dastardly deed, but reckons that nobody in the nation will be THAT upset over losing Toledo...........

I got out the Thesaurus and it has a long list of serviceable words. But one stood out from the pack and admirably does the job ... "dumb." Re using your laptop in public: I will lend you my get-up, shown below. So far, while I have worn it I've never been accosted by anyone who wanted to complain.

"Dumb" works on multiple levels and it might actually be understood. If The Society for Creative Insults doesn't exist, it should.
Your rig looks like it could be useful in many waiting room situations. If you have the time it could result in hours of fun at the metal detector at the entrance to the federal building.
