My sister and ex BIL lived on Elmwood Place (right off James Street) when they were first married in 1959 and loved the area. There was a park right across their flat where they use to take their cat out for a "walk". At night, they use to walk down to a Bakery near by and get fresh bread (still warm) and rave about the taste of it with butter soaking into the warm bread.
It use to be a nice, friendly, and family neighborhood; now it is nothing more than a drug haven full of criminals. This is what ALL neighborhoods will turn into unless the Police start reinforcing that raids on these drug houses and the Courts start giving out stiffer sentences instead of Probation.
Once word gets out that Utica is tough on crime, hopefully "new" dealoers won't want to come here and set up stop.
