What an enjoyable debate! And that's saying a lot coming from me! I'm not a politics fan. I thought they both did a very good job. They were comfortable to watch, not snarky to each other. They agreed on a few points and complimented each other about different things. They looked at each other and engaged each other. They didn't just attack each other. There are things I agree with on both sides and things I don't agree with on both sides.
The Presidential debate was uncomfortable to watch and annoying. This was refreshing.

A great debate! Biden's manner impressed me, if not his politics. Afterward, I flipped among the cable news outlets ... CNN, MSNBC, Fox and CNBC. They were each true to form. MSNBC was typically left leaning and dismissed Palin's performance. CNN seems to think presenting us with an equal number of paid Democratic and Republican party strategists is "balanced," but all it does is give air time to an equal number of strident diatribes. Fox did something interesting and thoughtful. They put together a group of 50 or more normal citizens who were evenly divided in how they voted in 2004, but who today were undecided about the upcoming election. Participants pushed "like/don't like" buttons every few seconds during the debate that were recorded by a computer and graphed across the debate. There was a high degree of sentiment for Palin throughout the debate from the entire group and many of them said they had been swayed toward Palin because of it. If the participants were fairly chosen, this was a hell of a lot more useful and indicative than interviewing Washington pundits and paid political operatives.

Well, I had intended to glue myself to the TV for the debate, but I was feeling well enough to go back to bowling on my Thursday night league for the first time since I broke my ribs.
I mean for a person that normally bowls 3 nights a week, and subsititutes two more nights, there is a priority that has to be recognized. I mean it's not like it is ME that is debating, so my absence was not of national importance, LOL.
Believe me, I have gotten all of the unbiased as well as the biased reports this morning from all of the cable news outlets, and the newspaper. The election process will go on, even while I bowl, haha.
Just a foot note. Even recovering from broken ribs and bowling very slow and easy, with little power, I bowled a 190, a 152 and a 189, for a 177 average and a 531 series. Not bad considering that everyone else is into the 5th week of the season, and I had not held a ball since mid July.
Back to the debates. I was sorry to miss the action myself, but I am happy to see that many of the reports give Palin more credit for her performance than I figured the left leaning overall media would. She must have at least held her own against a long time senator.
I see that the usual slaps were traded in the media, such as Palins supposed living close to Russia being a diplomatic experience. Can't have a news report without a little trash talk. After all, this is America, the land of free speech and expensive politics.

Palin "talked to the people" in laymans terms, and I believe from the heart. Very good, I'm impressed.
